Could be punctures from our pot-holed roads? I had to have mine flat-bedded a year or so ago when I had a puncture (I now carry a spare) as EV's cannot be towed. I did ask the driver how many EV's he has to pick up - mine was the first. Mostly Jaguar and Range Rovers apparently.

I know this place is rabidly and hilariously anti EV, but I have to say that I've had 35,000 completely trouble free miles in mine - unlike the 20,000 miles in my Morgan (or any ICE cars I've owned).

Fair point Neil, I hadn't thought of punctures, thought maybe flat battery / internal charge faults

I'd just like to point out I'm not anti EV, and ran two different spec i3's for over four years thumbs

I like the EV idea but not the promotional BS of zero emmissions. The power comes from somwhere & is c 60% from fossil fuels , plus the energy to make & move the heavier weight cars around. Advertisers should be made to show a life cycle analysis

It's odd that nobody seemed to worry about emissions too much until EV's appeared, but everyone is now poring over carbon emissions. However, I feel sure that EV's are helping to reduce local emissions in our towns and cities given their zero emissions.

Nobody is buying EV's to save newts (it's just a car), but for those bothered by facts, there are studies that show lifetime emissions are considerably lower:

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1364032122000867

Also worth noting that a Tesla M3 is about the same weight (lighter than some model variants) than a 3 series BMW. They're not causing pot holes, nor are there clouds of tyre dust (tyres last longer) or brake dust (brakes are rarely used) and LFP batteries don't use cobalt so no children died.... now what are the other myths?!

The next hurdle for cars will be the growing case of evidence that tyres and their resultant pollutants are creating a significant problem from the airborne particles they create especially in inner cities and when they enter the water systems.

35% of UK generation is from Fossil Fuels.

A BMW i3 is lighter than an ICE Mini

I have not got an EV but only because it is better (I understand) for the environment for us to keep our 24, 21 and 12 year old ICE cars than change to an EV.

I'm not anti EV. They have their place, particularly in urban environments (where one could also in a good number of cases use public transport (assuming not needing to carry much).
I will keep my 32+ y.o. Defender - it's too practical. Besides, I can't afford to buy an EV for the odd times I might wish to transport stuff from town.
