Does anybody know what the brake master cyl/servo is off ? I have got a number off the blue tag LBBHEL009B 8L12L.

I think these were fitted to the 1993 onwards plus 8

Here's hoping.

Hi David, research suggests they're hard to source- refurb may be an easier way-
Morgan used a Girling unit from 1978-1993 and then a AP Racing system with an integrated booster.
Not sure what brand these were, but you may find this similar.

Thanks for the reply Phillip, If I can get a set of seals it will be a help, I was hoping to get the seals or a replacement servo before dismantling .

You can often find a replacement servo, put a wanted add on here as the factory / dealers on sell the replacement as one unit so people often have a servo on the shelf, however is is stuck a simple part I doubt it would fail…

Hi "Treesurveyor"!

Hope this finds you well!

The MMC switched MCs sometime in June 1993. They moved then to Lockheed brakes, which after a purchase by a mega-international Indian company, became AP Lockheed and then CaparoAP. They should not be confused with AP-Braking. I have their catalogue up on GoMoG (Brake Section) or merely google them. The assisted brakes they make and supplied are excellent, perfectly proportioned back to front, uncomplicated and not known to fail (assuming all other parts being in good shape). They assist in braking without removing ALL feel like power brakes.

Part#s that I have:
Master Cylinder LBBHEL009BP
Vacuum Servo LBDHZC012AP
Brake Fluid Reservoir LB37FF027APThough many Plus 8ers switch to a remote reservoir to prevent the inevitable heating of the brake fluid from the proximity of branch manifolds.
They also sell through a retail network.

PREVIOUSLY MMC had LONG used the Girling MC 74066147. [i] Morgan MCs before 1978 are downright dangerous and should be converted. They have been illegal for new cars for many decades.

BTW, these 1978-1993 Girling brake MCs have a proportioning problem that effects all Morgans using them. Like so many things, the Girling guys adapt to the problem rather than fix it. In a nutshell, their proportioning is 50-50 which is woefully wrong and forces the rear end out in tight corners at even a mild speed. Owners instinctively begin babying their cars in such situations. Sports cars are not supposed to be babied. frown2 The problem can be cured with a smarter MC and excellent tyres. One can also use a proportioning valve.

Be well, fella

L.

I found Paul at Powertrack Ltd, 01344 886522 very helpful and knowledgeable with seemingly rare genuine replacement seals available. ie, he was able to supply the correct genuine seals for the clutch M/C on my Plus 8, which everyone said were unavailable. Maybe worth a try, and I have no personal connection.

John.

My apologies David. From the part# you posted on your "blue tag", I assumed you had a post June 1993 Morgan.
BTW, Caparro, with the help Peter Mulberry and the Factor, converted a pre-1993 to the later Caparro brakes, hydraulics,
booster and calipers. Quite a difference in handling. That being said, I like the HiSpec calipers the best. Smaller, lighter
yet greater pad area. I admit to no longer being a fan of the MCs posted for the reasons given.
