If what I've been told is correct, the new people have been appointed by the Italians to replace a longstanding dealer who has chosen not to renew their contract to sell new Morgans.

Ditto, I wonder if their ads in miscellany will change / notify ?

It's a terrible and very sad state of affairs. It would have been totally unthinkable, even 12 months ago.
There could possibly be other longstanding dealers doing the same in the near future if what I've been told is accurate.
Many of the longstanding dealers could manage perfectly well without the hassle selling new cars and the grief from the factory.
The Italians aspire to selling cars in the supercar world, they've little or no interest 'legacy customers' or dealers.

Pretty soon there will be no dealers left, the new ones will bail out (Holdens) I forecast the demise of Morgan within the next 5 years.

Yes, and no.
Morgan is pushing new CX cars on the dealers, reducing their ability to trade used cars as they lack the cash.
Dealers will bail out, Morgan will be left with a few newish dealers and start to suffer cash flow issues due to lack of sales, at which point the Italians will bail out, possibly via a hyped IPO.
It is all reminiscent of Aston Martin.

I'd asked the question of someone 'in the know', "was there likely to be a more 'affordable 4 wheel Morgan". Their view was that the direction was more expensive/exclusive.
It would seem to be an optimistic strategy in the current climate when high quality, high priced cars isn't what you've been known for over the last century.......

Sadly Keith, you're probably right, It's my thought as well. I don't want to get all negative and pessimistic (again) but I just can't see the market for £100k+ cars with sidescreens......

I'm sure there are some brilliant business minds pushing the current direction of travel, and doubtless they're way cleverer than me, but I just get the feeling it's all going to end very badly.

My hope is for a management buyout/ family buy-back/Steve Morris coming to the rescue, or a combination of all 3..............🙃🤷🏻‍♂️

It will be interesting to see how Morgan reacts to the UK 2030 deadline for ICE car sales. If it moves upmarket and away from its traditional domestic market to markets that are still thinking about ICE sales beyond 2030, it may survive for a time, maybe on lower volumes. However, it does beg the question how much of the handcrafted content of a Morgan has to be produced in the UK and could we see manufacturing moving abroad at some point in the future especially if the UK market is less important to Morgan.

However if the ICE is ultimately doomed, how they transition to an EV and still deliver that traditional handcrafted increasingly exclusive product will be interesting as the traditional Morgan market demographics are changing.

Just drop in a small hybrid package...gains another 5 years. Plus the option of annual production under 1000 units gives MMC an ongoing loophole

Yes there are quite a few ways it could go, be interesting to see how they produce an EV vehicle that maintain the dynamics and not be compromised by current heavy batteries and resultant range. The more the battery technology moves on, the lower the risk of inherent weight penalties of EV's. It will be interesting to see if any new models rely on a wooden structure of any kind to pin the bodywork to, as you can produce the look without the complication of using wood.

It’s worth taking a look at the “Electric Classic Cars” channel on YouTube. They recently completed a Ferrari Testarossa and claim to have improved the weight distribution whilst maintaining the overall weight the same as pre-conversion.

Several of their videos reference managing the weight of a conversion to preserve handling characteristics.

What they do not reference very often is the range they are getting.
