Good afternoon

I want to fit a cargo net to the side of the transmission tunnel, passenger side in my 2005 Plus 4. I will fix it with either rivnuts or something similar. Is there anything unseen that is hiding on the other side of the tunnel? (I can't get under the car to look at the moment).

Thanks in advance.

You really need to have a look. Gearbox itself probably not an issue if you are careful with drill, but you need to identify position of reverse light switch, wiring and connector plus any other electrics in vicinity.

Jacking car up and using axle stands should allow access.

Didn't think about the wiring. I still can't get under the car due to my wrecked leg but I can direct someone else (swmbo!!)

Why not using Velcro. There is Velcro with an adhesive side avoiding to drill the leather and the tunnel.
In the other case you have first to punch a hole in the leather before drilling.
There is ring with a small screw for drill avoiding to go deeper, sorry in French:

A piece of 3/4 by 3/4 or wood similar will do. Just drill the size of hole you require through the short length of wood then cut the wood to just a "tad" shorter (the thickness of the tunnel steel, probably 16 guage) than the drill bit length.
Fine adjusting by moving the drill bit further in or out of the chuck. You should be able to just get the point to poke through.
You still need to check for wires, cables etc.

Happy Miles
Bryan.
