Last full day of Yorkshire tour yesterday was a pleasant surprise. The hotel provided free passes to the adjacent Birds of Prey centre. It started with viewing the various cages of the 106 birds forming their current collection. Then we were shown this inquisitive 10 week old Bengal owl.

Followed by others and short flying displays with audience participation.

It seems the local branch of MSCC had visited there and sponsored a bird to mark their 50th anniversary.

Fascinating facts were given on the birds before a long talk on this beastie. An Uzbekistan Golden eagle.

This chap can reach 200 mph only closely beaten by a Peregrine Falcon and can take out a wolf in seconds. His talons can crush with a force of over 3000lbs! In keeping with the centres policy of flying them as much as possible he was previously set free (after a good meal) with tracker and spent the whole day soaring at up to 6000 ft and traveling as far as 75 miles before returning as the sun set. By then everyone had gone home. With no humans to see he sought out a private outdoor party, was captured and received an ASBO for his trouble blush

A drive to nearby Ripon completed the day visiting the Cathedral.

Now back home after covering around 650 very enjoyable miles since Sunday.

Mrs Image decided it was well past time she got a shot at driving the 4/4 ... 30 mile rumble round the local roads and she's perfectly at ease with it ... even stopped for an ice-cream with it being aeroscreen weather ... sadly forgot my phone so no pics of the occasion.

Ps ...that eagle is a fearsome bit of kit!! ... I have relatives down in Ripon and enjoy spending time there ... sounds a put-down, but, it's an easy town to get out of ... you can walk out of town into Studley Royal Park and Fountains Abbey and beyond ... lovely countryside right on their doorstep.

Great trip by the sound of it Richard.

Which hotel did you stay at near the Birds of Prey Centre

We go up to Ripon on occasions and it might be worth checking it out and going to the Centre.

Andy Powell from Wishbone Ash lives 10 minutes from me here in Connecticut. He's a Morgan man through and through. The current owner of a +8, he has owned 4 other Morgan's in his life. I recently interviewed him for an article about his time with Morgan's for our club newsletter. Afterwards he took my 4/4 for a drive. That smile says it all.

Last night they played at one of local theaters. What a great show.

SWMBO and daughter went off to the Gardeners World exhibition at the NEC. I had some errands to do so I decided to give my Mog a run in the sun. Here we are on Portsdown Hill looking out over Portsmouth and the Solent with the Isle of Wight in the distance.

It looks lovely. I've spent a few hours waiting up there when one of the family has had a hospital appointment, it's a lot cheaper than the QA car park.

Mrs W & I headed in the other direction for a picnic at the Devil's Punchbowl. I was a little anxious that it might be packed up there but I needn't have worried. I'm not sure where everyone was today.

Yes! At long last. Just a quick jaunt before the rain moved in, but it felt great to be back on the road.
