Our final night was spent at Stanbrook Abbey Hotel
Pictured from the drive

We were on the 2nd floor in the "Thompson Suite"

In the car park there were 16 Morgans (mainly CX Plus Four & Sixes).
They were from a German Morgan Car Club from the Dusseldorf area - On a 4 day tour to the Morgan factory

We left Stanbrook Abbey on Friday morning and made our way back up the M5 / M6 to home

We had a wonderful trip and we would definitely do it again - In 3 to 5 years time when I've saved up again!

Very good wallet bashing!

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Great pic Jon!

How did you get your motor outside? We were ferried to / from the suite by golf buggies

We've been going on and off for the last 20 odd years, originally guest cars were allowed in the Village, but this all changed last year as I assume someone finally did a risk assessment of all the dopey pedestrians wandering around vs car access on the narrow lanes

Chaps,

We are about to embark on a six week tour in France and I have just seen these posts about broken racks which rather put a fly in the ointment. I have spoken to Krazy Horse and they contacted the factory to ask what the weight limit is for luggage racks. The answer is that the factory say that the CX racks have been tested up to 25KG and do not recommend going over 30KG.

I have looked into how much luggage I could carry within the 30KG limit for the luggage rack suggested by the factory. To put it mildly the answer is extremely disappointing.

We have done a lot of long distance touring in France, Spain and Italy over the years covering up to 4,000 miles in a six week trip. For all of these trips we have used a 140 litre suitcase that was an effort to pick up and load onto the luggage rack. I never weighed it but I reckon it was probably over 50KG.

To get down to the 30KG limit we are going to have to manage with a case that is only 50 litres capacity and not even completely fill that. The case is a lightweight one and weighs just over 3KG so we are left with 27KG of gear.

For our forthcoming trip we are left with just over a third of the luggage capacity/volume and about half of the weight that we have previously carried on our Plus 4 and Roadster. It’s going to be somewhat of a struggle to put it mildly. What makes this worse is that the limit appears to be in place because of a poorly manufactured bracket.

One more thing. My rack also has sidescreen storage on it. I have weighed two sidescreens in their bag and that weighs just over 10KG. So, if I use that then I have only 17KG for gear.

I think MMC need to address this sooner rather than later.

Best regards,

John

I have a Boot Bag that is basically a soft bag made of tough waterproof material. Used it for a 10 day trip last autumn. That plus bags behind the seats can add up to decent capacity. It sits lower than a solid case so potential to strap an extra suitable soft bag on as well. Being material it is very light so reduces the gross weight. It has built in straps and I use extra ratchet style straps for added fixing.
From configuring a CX, the Morgan rack with side screen storage looks a big unit! I wonder if a Librands one is marginally lighter?
Also, how about some of the motorbike paniers?

I have to give a big thumbs up about my dealer here. The support and communication is fantastic. Picked up my PlusFour from the repair today and everything was put in order without any problems. My broken bracket and the luggage rack was replaced and the bracket additionally welded. The paint damage is no longer visible. A few other little things were taken care of as well. Have the bracket additionally welded and then the weight is no longer a problem. The orginal bracket is in my opinion a misconstruction.
