Have just re-greased the sliding pillars - the regular must do. Also replaced the nearside rear indicator plastic plinth - the original is brittle and the light holding points had split open. The plinth is available from M. Rutter but has to be sprayed to match the body colour.

An electrolytic cell is formed with resulting corrosion, usually one of the metal components, depending on what metals they are. Think sacrificial anodes often used in marine environments. The zinc( usual metal) corrodes instead of the steel hull of a ship.
The usual simple option is to remove one of the components ( moisture or change metals) to prevent or manage the effect. Separating the metals with non conductive material also helps.

Its well documented the potential (pun?) of galvanic corrosion between stainless and aluminium but this is mitigated if the latter is of a large surface area.

Regreased the bushings after a 1000-mile trip to Virginia. Tightened the crown nuts up front to tighten the front bearings. Replaced one of the hangers for the exhaust. And then took a nice ride.

Glove box

I wanted to make a lid for the glove box for a long time.
Mainly to hide the clutter.

Very smart. It really looks in sympathy with Mog style. Is there a catch to hold shut and a hinge to open or does it lift out? More pictures required.

Yesterday, actually, replaced a leaking differential cover gasket and cleaned up and resealed the axle tube/housing joints as well as the porous welds.

Hi JMcL
My first thought was to make it with hinges.
But that is not so obvious / easy.
The lid should then be on or equal with the dashboard and the hinges placed in the Upholstery.

I use magnetic push buttons.

It pops out, you take it away and there's perfect access.

Glued 2 iron washers on the back for the magnets

And this way I can always go back to the original state, no damage to the dash.

I put the repaired fuel gauge back in the cluster and got the rear end all sealed up and painted just in time for the sun to disappear and thunderstorms roll in...

I roughed out a new toneau cover support crossmember to replace the old bench seat support. It turned out so nice that I don't want to paint it black...
