Mine is level with the top hinge. Self adhesive.

I popped over to Heart of England today to pick up a couple of Union Jack badges with the dummy screws. It always takes about two to three hours even though its only 10 miles away..........an hour of so of chat with John Worrall which is always very interesting and then another spell with Ben and Mike chewing the cud! Picked up an interesting book from John going cheap, "Morgan Sports Cars The Heritage Years 1954-60" to add to my library and then Ben offered me several boxes of old motor mags from the '60s and '70s which I could hardly refuse. A mix of Autocar, Motor, Autosport etc and will bring back a few memories!

Nice blue flat rad Plus4 in the workshop with a supersport type bonnet and interesting Vangard engine with twin SU's and rear telescopic shocks conversion. I could have found a place for it if I'd had the room! Not for sale though. There was a similar Red flat rad for sale for £40k, fully restored but a 4 seater....very nice too!

Just need a warmer day to stick those badges on now!

You have too much time on your hands...........

Mine came with dummy screws, so I cut them off and filed the edges smooth. You can hardly tell.

Many thanks. Puchase made. I'll try to get some pics up at the weekend if they arrive by then.

The secret is to use masking tape to get the position absolutely square on the first side. Then mask the second side and double check the measurements so each side is the same.
Getting it level is crucial because the eye can detect the smallest variation of level. Any polish will affect how well it sticks so use paint friendly surface cleaner once you've masked up.

Does anyone know where I can get the adhesive Union Jack enamel badges with the mock screw heads?

Thanks,
David

I found most Union Jack badges on the market are poor quality, like these nasty plastic ones I stupidly bought from Car Builder Solutions, suffice to say they went straight in the bin.

Fortunately I was able to rescue the situation when I found these proper glass enamel on brass versions from Vintage Supplies.

As we can see they’re designed to be a screw fit, so I faked up my own screw heads as obviously I didn't want to drill holes in my Morgan. I used 3M double sided emblem mounting tape, I tapped and countersunk the mounting holes and sourced some nice brass countersunk domed slotted screws.

I then screwed them in tight using the smallest drop of super glue to ensure they weren't going to back out and made sure the slot heads were all horizontal.

I then carefully cut the screw threads off at the back and filed flush before applying the emblem mounting tape.

This is how they turned out, convincing screw mounted quality glass enamel on brass Union Jack emblems that require no invasive drilling to fit.

After carefully masking up and ensuring both sides were exactly symmetrical I fitted them here.

They've stayed put and 100% look like they're screwed on which they most definitely are not, being proper glass enamel on brass they look way better quality than the typical Union Jacks you see and complement the subtle brass accents I’ve added to Monty. My Union Jacks have a vintage patina that gives the appearance of a genuine antique emblem, despite them being new items.

Dave.
