You missed more than just the red arrows, Keith, it’s Peterhead’s gala week, there was also a Lancaster bomber and a full aerobatic display from a typhoon jet. Sorry, no pictures, I was too busy watching.

Ewan .... am mightily disgruntled that I missed the Lancaster .... knew about the Red Arrows as they're a regular at Scottish Week ... didn't find out about the Lanc until today when it's too late ... didn't see any publicity for it anywhere, not a whisper ... great disappointment. Would have been there for sure if I'd have known ☹️

News story today ..... will be interesting to see if they get a significant number of orders ... would be great to see these about again ... another one of my favourite aircraft.

I was lucky enough to see one based at Duxford fly overhead last Friday. They always seem much smaller close up.

My grandfather flew anti-submarine patrols off west Africa with 270 Squadron, before moving on to Sunderlands.

Would be better off with the Do24 ATT - but not likely to happen either. There is a modern flying boat available off the shelf with the Shinmaywa flying boat...

With modern engines and avionics it is still an effective performer.

Agree Peter ... what a project to take on ..... the PBY on the other hand is an attempt by the design holders (and restorers/repairers/rebuilders of the type) to refloat it as a commercial concern ... whether that works or not remains to be seen !
