In West Oxfordhire the Lib Dem Taliban are following Oxford in their anti car agenda .In Winey a blanket 20 mph speed limit with no mandate driving the majority of motorists crazy with frustration. I have lived here for 11 years and use the Woodstock Road main approach road into Town. Since the 20 mph limit imposed I have seen numerous overtaking events which virtually never took place under the original 30 mph. I have a wide circle of friends and have yet to find anyone who supports the "balnket" 20mph. However they all support zoned 20 mph in housin estates, high street, schools etc. The amount of signage, road markings, LED lights etc is just crazy. My village Parish Council under took a suvey related to 20 mph. Only 22% of adult population responded as follows.
No change: 183, 20mph zoned only 86, Blanket 20mph: 132,
Council decision. Blanket 20 mph.
I wrote a comprehensive objection letter and was "elegantly" given "the Finger" Democracy at its worst and another abuse of power by the green un Liberal Commissars.

Are you sure of the figures quoted? Your text suggests blanket 20mph would have been the least desirable option.

Obviously not for those doing the deciding 🙂

Looking at the Welsh legislation it says that it's 20 mph anywhere the lamposts are <200m apart .... up here (and I doubt Wales is any different ) many junctions on motorways and main dual carriageways have short sections of streetlighting for safety reasons .... by the letter that means slamming down from 70 to 20 at random times on the motorway to accommodate the lampost rule .... obviously that can't happen, so I guess every one of them will now have to have dedicated 70 mph signage to confirm you don't have to 🙂

The trial is still in place and the current situation is that the Sunday Lycra brigade are now over and undertaking slower moving traffic and cyclists need 1.5m clearance forcing traffic onto the wrong side of the road. Yes I did say undertaking! They will pass you on the inside thus forcing you to move into the path of oncoming traffic.
By that logic then all roads should be 5 mph, then there would be no deaths whatsoever.

There’s a movement in wales to attach a red ribbon to the front or your car as a symbolic protest agains the impending 20mph limit. Inspired by the 5mph red flag is fairly common in Buckley where the trial was held but not wide spread.

No I don’t display a red ribbon on any of my cars ! But I will consider it next month

Round trip of 35 miles for MOT and fill up with 40 litres at 141.9p. Another pass for Morton with emissions either mid limits or < 10% of max happy3
