I recently installed a VDO 292mm with an extra 5mm cork gasket. VDO 224-011-020-292G €151.38 292mm fits exactly with that gasket. Please note that new versions are available. It is important to observe the correct measurements. The resistance of the new 292 VDO version corresponds to the original built-in 250 mm VDO. The resistance of the new 292 - empty-full: 73.8 - 2.0 Ohm The new 279 - the 280 no longer exists - version has a resistance of 70.3 Ohm, which can cause more errors.
The short experience I have: It works very well and the accuracy of the tank reading has been greatly improved. I would advise comparing the new value on the dashboard gauge with the actual amount of fuel in the tank and making a small table and using Excel to create some sort of graph.

I find taking the laptop to access my Excel spreadsheets for filling up a touch inconvenient as with the slide rule, the finger in the air and I've driven for a while so better fill up resistance method has worked well for the last 10 years.
