My 1996 Plus 8 has had the front oiler lubrication changed to grease by a previous owner.

I am a bit concerned the grease may not be getting through, so I stripped down the suspension when fitting Mulfab bearings and am now using an 00 rating grease instead of the 02 used previously.

My question is, how does one know when the required amount of oil/grease has been administered? and where would it overflow/ouze out when full??

The lower greasing points show immediately when full as the grease oozes out the top of the stub axle.

I am looking forward to any advice/hints that may be thrown my way by those who are WAAAAAY more experienced than I. cheers

Happy Miles.

Typically the grease oozes out around upper steering bearing, i.e immediately above stub axle after greasing. You can listen carefully for a splat noise as it does this. After several miles of use further excess grease will build up around rebound spring or just below if boots on same, gathering on outer end of lower cross arm. Worth checking for this say 100 miles after last grease as it will eventually drop and be distributed around wheel rim inner but may also hit inside of discs!

Note a new car or one with fresh kingpins and bushes will require less grease than one with discernible wear, before grease oozes out. For these reasons I don't like remote greasing kits.

If the oiler was removed but the king pin not changed the passage way down the pin is way too small and hardly any grease will go down it.
