And that was my doing as I replaced the 5a fuse with a 7.5a fuse, in my defence this did however get my speedo working and reinstated my ignition warning tell-tale and handbrake/brake fluid warning tell-tale too.

So the real question is, why did the 5a dash module fuse (fuse 4) blow in the first place and every time I fitted another replacement 5a fuse?

Sorry Dave but you are looking at them. Indicators, hazards, rear fog, demist, heater motor are all circuits supported by PCB and fused after it so not relevant to your board issue.

FWIW I doubt your ECU guys will come up with a more rugged solution than the one Rog has made.

Of course the modern replacement for fuses and relays is a PMU.

Impressive and neat Dave with shedloads of solid state high current switching within no doubt. Dread to think of price though. I also wonder how programmable they are for conditional and timed switching though given they are strictly for race use

Fuses... simple, easy to swap out wherever you are, straight-forward to fault-find, small/light easy to carry lots and cheap as chips 👍

Not all new developments represent advancement, but do often facilitate built in obsolesce to a far greater degree...consumerism will out when and where ever possible in this highly disposable products generation.......

Like all tech, the price will fall rapidly.

Actually there's already a PMU on the market for just £500!

A PMU is a modern cost effective solid state programmable replacement for fuses and relays, and it already exists!.

Dave, I'm with you on this one, it will be the way to go. But then I've fitted EFI to my 1970 Elan and it's been win win all the way.

As for DMU's the Restomod people are fitting them as we speak.

The ECU Masters PMU would make a lovely robust solution, it's small enough to be integrated into the dash module where the PCB once lived, I’ve been super impressed with the quality of my EMU Black ECU from ECU Masters so I’m sure their PMU will be built to the same high standards.

However, as others point out..... It is indeed a very expensive way to fix a problematic dash module

And it doesn't just stop with the PMU itself,you also need a CANBUS KeyPad, the four chanel one being £230



Or £254 for the six button version



These ECU Master CAN switch panels are quite subtle in design so shouldn't be too out of place in the Morgan dash module, and you can get a huge number of different icon inserts to cover more or less any device or function you want to switch on and off. However, the cost is all a bit nuts really, so for the time being I'm going to see what my local electronics engineer can do with my damaged board?

I dropped Monty's dash module off with Richard today, he seems to be involved in fixing all things electronic so didn't bat a eylid when I presented him with an 11 year old Morgan PCB. Along with all the PC and phone repairs that are his bread and butter, he also had an electric golf buggy in for repair, and had just finished fixing the dash mounted screen on a Lamborghini, how diverse is that!

Richard inspected the board, flipped it over, and immediately said he suspects the diode at the end of the burnt track had gone open circuit. However, rather than make assumptions he will test all diodes, relays and the fan switch before ordering and fitting the component/s that have failed, only then will he repair the burnt track. He says it should be ready by Thursday, so in good time for me to fit and test next weekend.

Richard was also impressed with Roger's photos I showed him on my phone during my visit saying they'd be very useful, so I've just emailed them over (Thanks Rog).
