What settings for road use do people have for the rear dampers on their SSL 5 link suspension.

Thanks for any response

I can only speak for the SSL dual rate coil-overs on my Roadster with factory 5 link rear. I still use as supplied settings of pre-load and damping which I recall is about half way on the clicks. When touring with swmbo's humungous suitcase on the back I add a couple of clicks on the damping. They cope fine even with full tank and have never bottomed out. I think the 5 link rear allows more travel than leaf spring versions though

If concerned I would experiment having noted present settings.

I can't remember what setting I have now, I have the Quantum Zero shocks. I also have fitted springs with a slightly higher rate to cope with our heavy touring luggage loads.

What I can say is to not make the mistake that I made, after fitting the new springs, and set the damping rate too high.

I think that, at the moment, I have it 18 clicks down from full hard (full soft is 24 clicks down).

Unless you are absolutely certain that the number of clicks, hard to soft, is the same for both dampers you should always adjust down from full hard because slight manufacturing differences may cause a variation in the full soft position whereas full hard is where the valve would be closed.

What dampers do you have? SSL kits are supplied with a choice , Quantum, Spax, and possibly others

I have the Spax adjustables and on my +8 I run them on 3 clicks from full soft, but as Richard and Peter have outlined it is a question of trial and error , to suit your car and driving style .

I woild start on full soft , and go up 2 clicks at a time , and see if you detect the difference. When you get to the point at which it is definitely too hard , then back it off by first 1 click , and then a second , and you should be on the sweet spot.
