this morning i went to garage Albert to set the koni's on the softest position .Something wrong with the dampers he has to order new one.Thomas phoned to the factory to ask wy the 4/4 sport has a block between the leaf and the rear axle and not on the +4.This is to lower the suspension due to larger wheel.The problem of the hard suspension is well know and they suggest to add extra weight at the rear (sand bags) for 5000 km. thierry, finally some "official" news but maybe not satisfying for you maybe better to trade up to +4 grtz steven

I've just had a look through my factory photos of rear suspension on the 4/4 Sport and one shot has an alloy lowering block fitted and another doesn't! This picture shows an alloy block between the axle and spring.  This one shows the axle directly bolted to the spring.  I just come back from grovelling on my garage floor and my Sport has alloy lowering blocks fitted of about 1" thick. It explains why I noticed my car sitting lower than my friend Geo4's Plus 4. The difference between rolling, compressed radiuses of the Sport 165/80/15 and the 195/60/15 on the Plus 4 is 13mm....not a huge amount.

i will show the photos to my dealer.On the 2nd photo the reference of the leaf is visible.When did you take the photos ?
How do you find your car suspension ?

The first photo was taken on 17/2/2011.........the date of my first trip to Morgan when I changed my mind about being a TR3!
The second photo was taken on 10/9/2011. The codes on the springs appear to be;
Ist photo; MRS0003/2009 GH
2nd photo; MRS0003L GII (or G11) which incidentally was the same code as the Plus4SS I photographed at the same time and which appeared not to have a lowering block although it is fitted with a plate in the same place to take the anti tramp bars.
My Sport is October 2010 and had the lowering blocks fitted but I can't easily see the spring codes. The ride on mine is fine on normal roads, broken surfaces etc tend to make it crash about but then thats really down to the short suspension travel. I bought mine from the factory with 2000 miles on the clock so time for it to settle down and its now done 6500 miles.

while it's too cold to ride my bikes "often" these days
they get their winter-tender love and care
playing with my fat bike (tyres are more than twice the width of a normal mountainbike) I can recommend fettling both pressure in the tyre and the syspension, behaviour is way different in our leightweight cars imho
I would dare to go towards the legal minima in order to find out how you can balance comfort and roadholding

The 4/4 comes with 165's has any one tried 185's on the same rims? Just a thought Why would you want to ? With the power available mine feels great on the 165's. Looks nicer too IMHO

The 75th Anniversary 4/4 has wider tyres on the standard 4/4 rims...they are either 175 or 185s. The competition version of the 4/4 uses Avon CR6 ZZ tyres on the standard wheels and I'm pretty certain they are wider than standard.
As Giles says though...you don't need wider tyres on the 4/4...its pretty hard to make the back end break away!

It was just a thought for a later date. Am happy with the handling now, but still find it a little tail happy. Predictable though; must be me being too exuberant. or stupid.

With such a lightweight car, putting wider tyres on will likely make the rear end less controllable in wet/slippery conditions.
