“Thread isn't about what's most 'worthy' .... just about those images that are made by Humans that for some reason (and not always an intellectual one) just strike a chord with some other Humans who inhabit this Forum”

Wowzer Ian, for some reason that image strikes a chord with me!

That poster was probably the 'Art' component of most student halls in the late seventies 🙂 ....
Along with something by (in no particular order)

Salvador Dali

Alphonse Mucha

Kay Neilsen

And a psychedelic poster for Led Zep, Cream or some related band with tracks at least 15 minutes long 🙂

K

.... let it all out, we don't judge!! 😄

Although I grab loads of pics with my camera, I am no artist.
Also I am non religious, however while visiting Kelvingrove museum and art gallery a few decades back , I turned to walk up the wide main stairway to be confronted with Salvador Dali's, Christ of St John of the Cross mounted on the wall at the head of the stairs. The picture and the siting of it had an effect on me to the extent I remember it well. Unfortunately the painting was damaged by someone, and was was removed and sited elsewhere...

George ... Here's the picture ... for all his weirdness Dali was a great draughtman and fine painter.

Thanks for posting a pic of the painting.

I guess you have to imagine standing at the bottom of a beautiful red sandstone stairway acting as a leading line up perhaps 30 ft or more to that painting, the mix of architecture and Dali`s choice of perspective certainly increased the impact of the painting on me.

King Crimson (1969), although "Moonchild" is only 12:15 mins.

And who didn't have a poster of Desiderata somewhere in the flat. Brilliant opening line, especially when hung on the wall of the loo....

Or if you were arty and alternative then a Beardsley print .... the master of Massed Black and always a favourite of mine ... he wanted all his drawings destroyed on his death as some were decidedly not 'family safe' ... fortunately that didn't happen .... know a lass who has this tattooed on her ... his work is so striking and bold I'm surprised she's the only person I know with an AB ink.

- Fascinating very early colour photographs from the 1900s.
