Yes the EV Charger in the outback is funny, the whole video is very silly but funny.
Yes a PHEV, not sure if UK is behind Australia or just an old brochure. The spec here is a 20kwh battery for 84km's of EV driving, upgraded from 13.8 in 2022. Also 0-100kph for PHEV model is 6.5 seconds. I test drove one and it feels very slow but it flashes up a warning signal that you are speeding so it gets going much quicker than it feels. I guess because I am used to small manual cars that are low to the ground.
I ordered one just over a year ago and I feel it will be pretty boring but it is very comfortable and I have been told not every car we own has to be fun Hopefully my MGB is finished before the Outlander arrives.
I checked with the dealer last week and they said mine is at the Wharf in Japan ready to ship to Australia, probably be ready for me to own early October. That really depends on the wharf and where the ship has been, ships coming straight from Japan without Thailand cars onboard are fine otherwise it is a huge delay, Thailand has some nasty grass with lots of seeds that have got into cars parked waiting to ship that would be an environmental disaster if it got into the country, so Australia is making each car regardless of where it came from get thoroughly cleaned before the ship in unloaded if any cars on the ship came from Thailand. This article from March says 60,000 cars are on ships waiting just off shore to be cleaned before being allowed off the ships.
This more recent article says about 3000 cars across the terminals and about 10 ships waiting off shore, that is probably less that 60,000 but still a lot of cars.
^ Considering how many companies offer to butcher an ICE classic into an EV, that's quite funny to bung an ICE into an EV & clever they got the Tesla dash & electronics to function post flood
I had the privilege of visiting this company. They are called Carice. The are located very close to were I live in NL. I am very impressed with what they have achieved. I can only hope that Morgan pays very close attention to the design philosophy as applied by the folk at Carice. If MMC goes electric this is the way to go for a nice sportscar. This little car must interest morganeers. I wrote an article about my factory tour, it will appear this month in our morgan club maggazine. Check this out in youtube

I wonder if Porsche will be amused. You can advertise cheaply for sympathy with a cute childish scheme and nostalgia, which is sadly copied from a big brand. Will they get away with it? Even if it is not one-to-one but an infantilised interpretation of the 356.
It reminded me of those Copen cars, so tiny and far more vulnerable than even a Morgan, I don't like the shape of the rear and the flimsy boot lid was off putting. I wish them luck in their niche exclusive by cost alone market.

Well, I know the resemblance with the Porsche Speedster, but this is a well thought, beautiful executed very light EV from a little company also inspired by and with sympathy for Morgan. Look at all the detailing, they all did it themselves! As we are awaiting the Superthree EV it is nice to look at other examples of a lightweight EV. Bert R visited the little company and was very impressed. So we are planning to do a visit of the factory with some Morgans in 2024!
