My 2010 Roadster came with adjustable Koni's, 80-2885 back and 80-2884 front. I want a little more rebound damping on the back because it kicks-up a bit after a bump. As far is I can see on the website, to adjust they have to be fully compressed to latch the adjuster mechanism and than turned. Problem with these is that there is a thick bump-stop rubber on the damper rod under the dust cover. It prevents the damper from fully closing so I cant adjust. The the dust cover doesnis not removable. It appears welded to the top of the rod. Any one know the solution?

with Koni shocks there is a plastic washer around the shaft under the cap with a split in it so that it can be removed from around the shaft. When this is done push the shock shut and turn it to the setting that you want. Refit the washer before fitting the shock back on the car.

Hi David, I did remove the washer. Bit under the dust cap is also a thick rubber stop, probably 3/4" thick. It does not split. I tried compressing it with all my weight but couldnt engage the adjusting mechanism. I even tried to remove the stop by splitting it but it is very tough and I got worried that I might damage the rod if I kept trying with stanley knives etc. Thats where I thought there must be an easier way?

I have the instructions also and it says about the rubber washer.

Thanks Andrew, Looks like I will have to remove the bump-stop (spacer). Problem is on my shocks they are not split and they are higher than the gap between the shock and the dust cover. Very difficult to get at to cut and remove.

You can see that there are some Koni Red shocks that are non-adjustable. I would check your model before you start cutting things up.

If you have to remove the shocks from the car to adjust them it does not seem very convenient. I think I would be considering replacing them with something a little better.

Yes I have ordered them to be fitted to the Plus 4 in construction however I think if I was buying a replacement I would have chosen the AVOs.

Nice one Cereal, I did think that too when I couldn't figure out how to collaps them all the way. But the sticker on the unit says "Adjustable", (picture) The way I see it Koni either put the wrong sticker on or they put the wrong bumper rubber on. I am thinking the latter. Cheers J
