Does the gearbox drain plug have a washer on 2005 Plus 4? Thanks.

Is it Mazda gearbox ? Says on the owners site a copper washer is used

Copper washer or a Dowty washer and a couple of turns of PTFE tape around the threads on the drain plug

My 2010 plus 4 with the MT-75 gearbox has alloy crush washers, they tend to stick to the gearbox and look as though they are the gearbox surface but you can flick them off easily enough! They don't use copper as it could erode the face surface of the gearbox causing a leak down the line (reactivity series of metals scale). I have reused my alloy crush washers several times with no problems.

I drained the gearbox (MT75) today and it had alloy washers with a rubber type inner edge. Luckily I had exactly the ones needed so all was good.

That's sounds like a Dowty washer although the metal is usually steel. Work well on high pressure hydraulic fittings but not so well as a seal that isn't under pressure I have found.

Slight thread drift……my sump has a dowty washer, an original fitting. Being alloy I’ve never been sure the correct torque but go less than usual for a sump, to18 lb/ft. Ditto for gear box. I did mine to 25lb/ft
