Hi everyone.
Does anyone know the original manufacturer of the steering column and hence steering lock, please. Embarrassingly in France recently I delayed the groups progress for 20 minutes whilst I tried to get the steering lock free, and need a replacement. I imagine it might be BL ???
Kind regards, John.

If it looks at all like this John it's a Valeo item used on Rover 800 series.

See here for source. After chiselling off bolts you manage to repair old one, fresh break off bolts are available on eBay.

Thank you Richard. The key certainly looks identical, I'll take the plastic cover off later and look at the lock.
Cheers, John.

I never bothered with the snap off bolts when I had to replace the steering lock on an older car.

Seem to recall that John v6 had a problem some time ago with his roadster lock jamming. Once removed he gave it a good soaking with chain oil and applied a pliers to turn the key and it worked perfectly. (bit of a sh*t or bust method, but could save a few bob?)

I certainly did & I bought a spare off fleabay. After apply motorbike chain grease via an aerosol I let it soak in then turned it upside down. The crud that came out was amazing. I replaced the bolts with normal ones to facilitate any issue from further failure.

Thank you again Richard, I bought the one on ebay in your link, just have the little issue of fitting it.
Cheers, John.
