I never really got the point of air friers, but the potential to cure paint or even powder coat at home...ummm thumbs

Taxed Morton. What a treat, down from an eye watering £570 I've had to pay for the last five years to an easier to stomach £190 smile

I made this a couple of years back Jon, to use with my 'Electrostatic Magic' powder coat system which I somehow 'bought' at the NEC show -

DIY Powder Coat Oven

- works surprisingly well and not too expensive to put together even if you have to buy all new parts.

The hardest bit is finding a metal dustbin - they are all incinerator style now with too many holes! banghead

Tried treating the rusty exhaust manifold however the Norwegian rust removing gel (apparently used on oil rigs) was neither gel (watery) nor in date so didn't work. recommendations welcome.

The Hammerite de-rust gel worked fine, now painted black with heat (600c) resistant paint. Also changed the wiper park switch as my wipers wouldn't turn off.

My GDI plus 4 has been a bit flat lately so decided it was time for a major service plugs filters and oils. It's done 8000miles but given its 9 years old thought it wouldn't hurt. Wow what a difference goes like a scalded cat now. Rear two plugs siezed but came out eventually noticed the plug gaps were set at 25thou which is about half of what they should have been. Mpg is now over 40 from 35 which is welcomed.

Nice one John,

Isn't it remarkable what a service can do! there you are with a real low-miler with modern oils that should achieve star-ship lubricating mileages and yet the difference is phenomenal. I think and say on many occasions that if only more Morgan owners just learnt the most basic service and tinkering skills their cars would bring so much more pleasure! I really believe that many Morgan's stop being driven because their owners start to feel dissatisfied with the car, some I truly believe actually sell them or P/EX them thinking something major must be wrong with it, "well it's driving like a bag of bones now"!

The Morgan is just not like their old tin tops that will tolerate no end of abuse before.it curls its toes up No you have to show it that you care and it will respond likewise!

Well done for posting such a simple solution which shows a huge change to the fun aspect of ownership and with little effort! And of course John, they could ask you to do it for them if close to North Wales or passing through.

Stripped the Quaife steering rack adjuster down. Seemed to have less than the recommended ¼ turn from fully tightened though. Pleased than nylon pressure piece was no more than light interference fit in threaded adjuster after six years and 31,000 miles. Took a smidge off with oiled wet and dry though to allow for future expansion. It now comes out of adjuster easily with a satisfying pop.

Tools needed are 38mm socket (same size as for Lionel's billet spinner removal tool) for locknut and 22mm opened ended for adjuster flats although given this was relatively easy to turn just used ends of spanner for the most part due lack of clearance.
