I started earning at 18 and retired on my 50th birthday. Unable to make voluntary NI contributions as living outside the UK for many years, I was surprised to receive a full state pension at 65 but the 11 free qualifying years helped. In fact I had a year to spare

Perhaps worth looking but there's been a change re. those contracted out as the advise was deemed to have been wrong and unsafe and therefore reversals have been made and as far as I believe they have had to rectify it to the position that you would have been had you not been advised to opt out. I have a national health and military pensions and a private one. We were advised to opt out by the NHS but my financial adviser told me no way to do that. My wife still works for the NHS and those advised wrongly have been reinstated and made good as though they hadn't ever left. It was a government directive.

i just got an extra 25p per week due to my age (£13 a year) but my tax code got reduced by £20 per year back dated to 6th April WTF.
