Be careful. The Morgan has marine ply floor panels which on our 1990 +4 are what is termed a rough and ready fit. Morgan tried fitting steel floors in some +8 cars but found their trapped any water and ended up rusting out. Wood and small gaps allowed this water to drain or soak into the wood to then evaporate. Not a thing you would think in a car but we still have the original floor after 34 years. Just make sure you have drain points otherwise you may end up with mold forming in the car. Steve has a good point with ear plugs as we did a very fast run down from Calais to Paris top down ending up partially deaf for some time when we stopped. Wind not engine noise was the problem. Enjoy!

Might be worth mentioning a few words about how sound reaches our ears in vehicles.... The Airborne sounds (mainly wind & exhaust) are effectively filtered using earplugs or wearing a helmet- I personally enjoy these are therefore don't filter them. The Structureborne sounds (mainly gear whine & click/clunk) can quite effectively be damped by using the material shown above. I don't really enjoy these noises, so I choose to filter them. I would describe the change more as an increase in "solidity" rather than a decrease in overall volume. It tends to leave the desirable Airborne exhaust & wind sound a bit more "pure". In the M3W specifically, insulating the two flimsy plastic tunnel covers (small one over the driveshaft & large one over the transmission) give a significant reduction in the Structureborne gear whine from the bevel box and click/clunk from the driveline backlash.

Dinko, the M3W has aluminum, not wood floorboards, so the rotting plywood scenario isn't relevant.

Thanks Leopold, Did not realize you had a three wheeler. Must read more carefully. Even more important to have drainage as you do not have a roof cover. My wife and I were caught out in the Morgan with a huge thunderstorm in the center of France years ago. We were driving with aero screens only. Talk about having a shower in the car. We stopped at a large parking area at the bottom of the pass and stripped out the carpets and sat and watched the car and other bits slowly steam back to dryness in the now very hot sunshine. I cannot remember exactly where we were but it was near a huge colony of vultures that had come over from North Africa that circled above us thinking it was a road crash. Happy memories. Enjoy your car Leopold and welcome to the Morgan group.

Leopold - I have done the same with my 2015 M3W and noticed a positive difference in the sound. I've also noticed a difference in the heat coming through, i.e. slightly less. Also happy to see less dirty / dust coming into the vehicle through open seams - which is a nice bonus.
However, I still get annoying metallic rattles at certain speeds / rpm. It's as though, when I hit a certain rpm range, the normal vibrations create some sort of harmonic effect. To me, it sounds like two pieces of metal (like aluminum) rattling together. Not a deeper, steel sound. So, I regularly go around the vehicle with Allen wrench / hex key, screwdriver and nut driver and make sure everything I can reach is tightened down. The only place I can think of that could still be making this sound is the floor, so I'm going to tighten those up this week too.
Any similar experiences or solutions on your end?
