Morning all, I noticed yesterday that the coloured enamel on my bonnet badge has slowly escaped and I am not down to the metal alone. Has anyone recoloured there badge or is it a case of simply replacing it? If the latter are the badges readily available?

thanks

I can’t speak specifically about the M3W badge, but even the older style 4W badges were known for losing their black enamel.
My solution was always a small tin of Humbrol enamel paint from the local model shop, a fine modeller’s brush and a steady hand.

I enquired about a M3W Cowl badge only this week and was told Morgan had them in stock and they were just shy of £40 inc VAT

The M3W badges all seem to fade. Either regard it as patina or recolour with touch up paint.

If you mean the enamel (it's actually epoxy resin) I find a wipe over with WD40 leave overnight and don't buff off, works wonders

I recoloured mine with a red permanent marker. Looks good so far! May have to reapply but it did the job.

Ah - re-read your post - so the enamel has fallen out?! - You could repaint it maybe....

With such a splendid car, why make bodged "repairs" ? Replace it like-with-like or get a professional repair done, this is just one of many such specialists http://badgecraft.co.uk/ (has done work for me, albeit several years ago)

Thanks for all the suggestions. To clarify it hasn't faded, it has simply lost all the colour blocks over time, I guess from vibrations. Given that a new badge is only £40 that's probably the best route as I doubt I can get it retouched for less and I doubt my hand is steady enough to do it to the right standard.
