Hi looking for some advice, my 95' +8 keeps blowing fuses and I can't find the cause. About a year ago I had to replace the Indicator and washer stalk and all seamed straight forward and relatively easy to attach and hook up. But recently it has started to blow a fuse when asked to operate thee wipers. I cannot fathom what is occurring here, any pointers please would be gratefully received.

I think your problem could be the motor, mine was. On my 2002 4/4, the casing bearing/bush had seized on the gear wheel. Those nice folks at car builder solutions helped me out. Good luck. https://www.carbuilder.com/products...kit?_pos=26&_sid=8354345d7&_ss=rCheck your sweep angle, look inside motor box.

Unscrew the 4 (I think from memory bolts) on the drive cover. Scrape out any grease in the drive & refill. Drop the dash & grease the wiper bezels.

If the wipers and controls work fine and just the fuse blows then it does seem likely the motor is being overloaded particularly if it only happens on fast wipe, so run through lubing the whole chain from motor to wiper. You could also feel the motor for hotspots immediately after fuse blows which may point to a bearing issue. Try and get some oil or thin grease into the cable that actuates wipers via individual quadrants. Check also grease in motor as suggested above as that can dry out and turn lumpy over time, so remove old and add new if needed. For this reason wiper motor loads are usually higher in the winter. If needed this is the Lucas 14W wiper motor you are looking at replacing. Note the parking direction nomenclature. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/Gxw24cH.jpg)

For about 2 years I have had similar problems with the washers. I changed just about everything. They would work for a while, even up to a year. Well see the image, you may have to expand it to see the cause. Chafe in the loom behind the plug that goes into the wiper stalk. The loom rests on the metal part of the steering column support. I had worked out the problem was in the LGB (light green black) wire but initially could not see that wire with the limited access. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/08/26/96B73933-74BD-424F-8A43-AD1DB3AB1D50.jpeg)

Yes light green/black wire is the stalk switched feed to screen wash pump. Note the universal main loom is used for both left and right hand drive builds so the brake fluid level and screen wash connectors are duplicated. Worth checking the redundant side is properly isolated therefore.

Update,
I opened the wiper motor and sure enough in sufficient grease in there and what was left very thick and glue like. Cleaned it up and re greased with a generous amount and put back together. Three weeks ish later and no further fuses blown even after gratuitous un necessary switching on and off.
Thanks for to all for the advice
