Hyundai has launched the world’s largest waste-to-hydrogen plant, capable of producing over 30,000 tons of hydrogen annually.
Unveiled at the MEET conference in Seoul, the plant converts organic waste and plastic into eco-friendly hydrogen through advanced biogas and gasification processes.
Hyundai’s goal is to reduce global warming by utilizing waste methane and plastic, while also developing region-specific projects to cut hydrogen transport and storage costs.
The plant represents a significant step towards sustainability and hydrogen resource independence.

What I like about such schemes is that they are helping with recycling of plastic, which probably represents more of a challenge to man's continuing existence than global warming, with the amount of micro plastics ingested from the water system and food chain..

I've just (well almost) finished cladding an area of over 50m2 in a sort of upvc shiplap board, I specifically bought a version made from recycled scrapped pvc window frames, when I asked the supplier if they wanted the large pile of clean offcuts back, just got a "naa, can't be bothered mate"

I can see what will happen in a few years, say by 2200, as resources run out:

The great automated Hyundai sea miners trawl microplastic from the world oceans to recycle plastics whilst running on energy created from the fraction that can not be re-cycled. idea

Let them start now that way the swimmers and surfers don't have to swallow it all and they make gain from it harvesting it in their H2 powered craft.

I think the pace of change will gain momentum very quickly, we already have some vessels dedicated to collecting floating plastics from the ocean surface, its on a small scale at the moment but that will change. More and more marine conservation areas are being created, Australia seems to be leading the way with I think nearly a half of its surrounding seas are already conservation areas. Conservation will lead to clean up.........the worst polluters being India that dump everything into the Ganges which finish up in the sea will start to clean up their act, especially with a growing educated wealthy middle class who will look to cleaning up their environment. Isn't India building a million public toilets to deal with a daily waste issue.

For anyone interested in educating themselves about the potential use of Hydrogen in our everyday cars, I strongly recommend viewing this talk by Michael Liebreich. The fundamental science, practicalities & economics certainly indicate that it's going to be an uphill struggle.
