IIRC the 2 grey wires are on the tail of the wiper switch on a separate small plug at the top, which is the delay circuit. I referred to it on an earlier post re the plastic locator being brittle. I found on mine the routing of those wires was quite tight, so subject to chafe.
Yours must be a bit different as I did not have to remove the wheel.
Good luck finding the break. My break in the washer feed was a s** to see.

Found my spare. Maybe a picture showing the grey wires to the “tail” will help.

Yes that six pin connector on the wiper stalks flying lead accepts only two wires from stalk itself connected to the resistive array within according to delay chosen, in turn applying varying voltage to the wiper delay relay "I" pin. Hopefully Paul's wiggling of wires cured the issue permanently but concerned it may occur again!

If a wiper stalk replacement is needed it should be relatively easy to remove/replace.

The stalk should just slide out once the securing screws to right are removed and retaining pip (just inboard of D shaped moulding) is eased. The ignition switch barrel shouldn't impede.
