Some years ago on here everyone was hiding behind a nickname or pseudonym. Someone suggested that everyone should 'come out' and so, 'real names' became the new norm.
I used to be 'Hugh Jorgan' on here, and whilst it's not actually strictly correct, it always amused my juvenile schoolboy sense of humour. Julian BB is who I am.....π
I always wondered what 'Gambalunga' meant though so I'm really glad Peter has finally ended the mystery........π

I adopted a new forum name here thinking of my father-in-law who flew very often all over the world during his career of more than 30 years and that in France they nicknamed the oldest flight attendant GLLOQ in French it is spelled (I have two wings on my ass) I found that it would go well with my three wheels. I have always liked touches of humor.

I cannot believe you guys are only just coming out and doing this name thing But it is interesting. I guess mine, long time used, is simple to work out BUT I have used Mike and in all my working life I never signed a letter, memo and latterly e mail with Mike. Bizarrely people always wrote back to Mike ! I prefer Michael and Mick I detest.
Strangely as we both get older, my wife now calls me Mike in conversations with people , weird.
Iβm not a motor bike guy, having only owned a small James back in the early sixties, I gave it up after regularly going one way and the bike the other on black ice at roundabouts! Gosh it used to be far colder in the north in the 60βs. Crossing the Pennines could be like going to the South Pole and having to turn back.
I did know Gambalunga because I used to provide and decorate Moto Guzzi club garments a good few years ago. A senior club guy was someone I knew and liked and he begged me I did consider approaching Morgan to do their stuff but truthfully. small quantities of multiple items was a bit of a pain compared to bulk quantities. I have thought about seeing if I have samples of MG gear and letting anyone who has an MG bike have it - finding it is currently not a priority but if I come across stuff I will put it up on the site. MORGANmichael ! Not punch enough reallyβ¦.

As like many of my age, I can on occasion be found to be a grumpy old man when it comes to engineering "advances," and if interested looking in any dictionary will explain well enough the word Luddite...Though in truth sitting here typing on my lap top, it would seem I am a somewhat selective Luddite...(-:
When on previous closed forums I was happy to use my fore and surname, but thought it a tad unwise given the extent of the sharing I am likely to do on this open forum. It just seemed wiser to stick to a pseudonym, given the amount of hacking this that and the other are into these days, and that as I age I feel ever more vulnerable to it all.
Though I do remember someone outing me to some degree on TM a while back for whatever reason....Strange...?

My parents gave me the name Heinrich, which is Henry in English. My childhood friends thought Heinrich was a bit long and old-fashioned, so they called me Heinz, similar to Enzo in Italian and I kept it. When I started at TM 15 years ago, I typed Heinz just so and didn't expect it to work without adding more numbers or characters. It worked because the name is no longer very modern, even in Germany, and is not common in England. However, I was born in 1959, so I am Heinz 59 and not Heinz 57π The name Heinz reminds me of great adventures in simpler times (and our basic b&w TV) As a yoof, I used to like watching the TV programmes about science with the presenter Heinz Wolff, and the fun stuff like 'The Great Egg Race'

Also Tomorrow's World on a Thursday and The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures which I've watched every year since I was a lad. I went to a recording of Egg Race once (it was making hovercraft at Gosport) and I met Heinz Wolff afterwards. He was a lovely bloke. Ian 57
