I am placing an order, so water-cooled. Going for a 718. And yes, for the price of a new 718 once can get any number of used 911's, bigger engined 718 etc. Won't bore you with my reasonings smile. I've had two before and it works for me.

Enjoy the 718, I don't blame you, whilst a Morgan can be good fun on occasion, it can be hard work sometimes. For us, the Morgan is great for local 100 miles round trips, down back country lanes to go get our favourite ice cream on a sunny weekend .

Whilst we enjoy our Morgan within those self imposed limitations, if we are going on a longer journey with luggage for weekends away etc in less than forecast ideal weather and dense traffic expected we take Sue's car with its retractable roof and effortless touring capability. Less tiring, more comfortable on those longer journeys, still experience the open air motoring we enjoy.

As they say horses for courses, I find the change in our approach as to what we expect from our Morgan has increased our enjoyment of it and so far reduced the frustrations that inevitably come with ownership and driving, although it still has its moments.

I was tempted back to a Boxster, but don't need the performance - they are far more capable than I smile

A boxster/cayman are both fantastic cars.
They're 'practical' in an impractical sort of way, have way more performance than anyone in the real world could reasonably need and they're really well made.....!!!
PDK is incredible as well....!
I might have a look on autotrader.................😆

Perry, thanks for taking the time to reply to my question.... As a C4S owner, I agree with Graham`s available performance re my own capability comments entirely..... Also Richard has covered one of the main reasons for me returning to Porsche ownership a few years back.
However this year I have made more use of my Morgan than my Porsche as I just enjoy driving it for pure driving pleasure more than I do the Porsche, when gifted one of those warm dry days which it seems we may have had a few more of than usual in Central Scotland...?

An alternative Porsche to consider...? (-:

It is almost impossible to get a vintage car from the UK to Europe, 100 forms etc. The French have definitely ruled it out, and via Holland you need a Dutch agent and a lot of money and a lot of patience...always with the risk that customs will find a reason why you can't import the car after all. Thanks Brexit and thanks to the almost harassment of the EU. Perhaps another reason why prices in the UK have fallen so much for many vintage cars. The European market for UK cars has collapsed.
But what about importing a car like the black 1981 SC from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland?

You make a good point Heinz. There was a time when any decent +8 of a certain vintage went straight over the water.

My old (1985) 4/4 went to Eire last time it changed hands.

Yet another fine mess the politicians have created.

Yesterday I was looking at ebay and out of curiosity did a search of Morgan cars. Quite a range in there. The quoted value for some looked ok for the model but others were low. The value on many was described as a minimum but one I recognised was a few thousand£ lower than a previous dealer ad for the car.

Heinz, I have to admit I did not know of these Brexit induced complications perhaps affecting the overall valuation of UK owned classic cars, perhaps having more effect in the EU than in the UK...?

I suspect many in the UK may use the VSCC`s definition of the word "vintage" in relation to cars and m/cycles for machines older than 1931 or thereabouts... I suspect most machines after WWII might be determined more as classics...? The licencing authority in the UK determine an original specification machine can be classed as historic if it is 40 years old at the date of first registration in the UK.... It can all get a bit confusing, perhaps more so if customs get involved too...?

Ok, then it was the wrong wording I have used. Let‘s talk Classic Cars. Please see the link below and use google translator to get an idea how difficult it is nowadays to import a Classic car from the UK.
