This explanation has been posted in another place:
"As well, the weight of the 3wheeler has climbed from the original estimate of 450 or 500 kilos to 550 kg on the official CoC. With the change in power, that makes a significant difference in the power-to-weight ratio from 267 bhp per tonne to 148 bhp per tonne..or 45% less. However, only two of this article's customer/contributors expressed a desire for more power. And if more is wanted, that is one of the S&S finest points..many power upgrade options are available, especially from the USA.
By way of an explanation, Steve Morris, a Morgan Director says: "Firstly, it is important to know that the initial data published was, as always, the best guess based on information we had at the time of issuing. As with all Development of new products we are completely governed by legislation and OEM supplied product. The new figures published are following our calibration and unfortunately they are what they are. It is important that we follow procedures as set out by the governing bodies which is what then allows us to sell the vehicles. As with all Morgan products once in Production we do not stop then a program of continuous improvement and this will also be the case with the 3 Wheeler. Please do not pre judge the performance until you have driven the vehicle as I think you will find the performance exhilarating."
Note the remarks by Steve Morris, especially the bit about a program of continuous improvement. I think that once the current demand of 850 orders plus any new ones that come in, now the car is in full production, has been fulfilled, we will see what may be marketed as a Super Sports version of the car, weighing in at just under 450kgs, and putting out around 120bhp. It could have bigger brakes, maybe modified suspension settings and a tighter turning circle, price could be £5000 more, I reckon they could get away with that. I somehow doubt this version will be available until 2013 though, just as demand for the current car is begining to slow down a bit.
What do others more qualified than I am think could happen?

what you write down is a typical product lifecycle therefore: no worries, with current demand, they will introduce more 3wheeler-models!!!!
if I'm happy with mine, I'll do a typical fellali-trick immediatly order the MkII just after taking delivery of the MkI

I was the factory earlier in the week and it is highly possible orders for 1000 3 wheelers will have been placed before the Genea show.
Please dont think this will be the end of it, customer cars will soon be hitting the road and that will attract attention and the car will feature on Top Gear soon so again another sales boost.
I'm not convinced we'll see anything as radical as a Mk2 3 wheeler but rather a gradual evolution. I tried out the first prototype and the power was plenty enough. I think we should all relax on the power issue a little until we've seen some owner feedback so not long to wait now

Imagine how it will be in the summer! I hope they focus on producing cars to fill orders, not developing a mk.2 already (which will devalue the mk1s). Evolution of the design (and ironing out bugs) is ok, as long as the price isn't affected. When I placed my order (probably number 32 in Belgium), I was told that the price could not be guaranteed at this stage, since delivery will be 2013 and Morgan reviews it's prices on an annual basis... Family and friends are a bit surprised: I placed a 10% deposit on a car for which I don't know the final spec, final price or delivery date...

It will be interesting to see quite how MMC market the improved car. As customers I think we would prefer a gradual evolution, but from a marketing point of view, a Mk11 SS version would have a greater impact on reviving sales. Whilst I am sure they are even now looking at ways to lower the weight, I cannot see them productionising a lighter and more powerful car until all the current interest has been satisfied. As 'early adopters' where will we be then? Keep the original 'Classic', or sell and buy the new improved one, or maybe just not bother because the itch has been scratched anyway?

Then imagine what vague info/rumours the guys NOW receiving their cars took their desicions upon True early adopters and pioneers...but maybe the customers in the thirties paved the way
