Having not yet driven Morton this year managed to get out yesterday for a 115 mile round trip to visit Cain at Wolf Performance, following The Morganeer who was dropping his Plus 4 off for work. The usual informative long chat with the man filled in a lot of knowledge vacuums on the marque.

Lovely run out in 3C but sunny this afternoon and the mileometer decided it was warm enough to show the total mirage even 😎

Always feel rejuvenated after a winter run 😀

Last week when the weather was better I did a few rides to check everything for the inspection.

MOT had to be done before February 12.
Last Monday nice weather dry, sunny, 6°c.. okay lets go!
It was not too busy, just half an hour of queuing.
Everything seemed okay, but at the end I still got a red card. redcard

Problem !!
No headrest on the passenger seat.
Apparently this has been mandatory since last year. I didn't know!

In these conditions I ride with the half tonneau to keep the heat In the cockpit. And without the headrest it lies nice and flat. Normally I put it in the car, not this time !?!?
A Morgan friend lives nearby the inspection station.
I called him, if I could borrow a headrest. No problem, he said. Otherwise it would have been a return trip of 40 Km. In 15 min I was back with a brown headrest on a black seat for re-inspection. The man at the re-inspection looked a bit strange. I said that fits better with my wife's hair color. He couldn't laugh about it, but I have my green card.
Another lessen learned.

Re the almost MOT headrest failure…..

Having checked everything beforehand I drove to the mot station without concern. That is, until the screen washer was checked! How could it not work for heavens sake? But a fail was looming.

The tester, a good sort, then looked at the screen and noticed it was a drop down. He told me to drop it and since the car then no longer had a windscreen then for testing purposes the washer was not an issue.

To be honest the tester seemed interested in the screen mechanisms. As he explained, working on anything but a modern car was a breath of fresh air for him

Yes, in Belgium every car older than 4 years must undergo an annual inspection. If everything is ok you will receive a green inspection certificate.
If there is a problem, you will receive a red certificate and you have 15 days for the repair.
The inspection takes place in inspection stations spread over the country by region. You can go by appointment or just go and queue.

Finally got out for a dry salt free run today although still cool. A new dog walk venue at Brandon Country Park would have been excellent but for it's proximity to Lakenheath. Six jets taking off at 30 seconds intervals was noisier than some airshows. Morton ran extraordinarily well though for the 37 mile round trip seemingly taking delight in gulping in the dense cold air wink
