Thanks for sharing, Simon. Very interesting, attractive and a no-nonsense transplant. Especially keeping the weight of the MX5 NA. I wonder if that Ford V6 3.0 I had in three Roadsters would fit in my Elise, just for the fun of it. And yes, the engine of my first roadster from 2005 is the ST220 engine, the closest one to the mentioned Jaguar engine, I guess.

Heinz, I knew you had a soft spot for the NA MX-5. If I believe correctly, your son has one? I've now owned two - when when they were new and a second decades later, as a trip down memory lane. Neither disappointed. As a car, it is hugely capable and all too often dismissed by many.
As for the AJ30, like you, it is my understanding that the S1 Roadster is the closest to the fettled unit that Rocketeer use. I also thought that Basset Down Balancing may be of use for Roadster owners in the future, as they seem to know this Ford V6 very well. It is definitely an engine that people speak well of and the Porsche / Cosworth development is often mentioned.
Yes, Simon, my son has had his NA for 10 years now, he loves it very much. It's frightening how quickly 20 years go by, it still seems like yesterday when I got my first Morgan, the S1 Roadster, in 2005. With the then very modern 3.0 liter V6 engine. It's a good tip that you give, that one can have his V6 beautifully refined today.
