Well, Ripping out the very vulnerable return edge on the chassis that it bolts too! this return edge forms a large part of the integral strength of the chassis and in fact stops it cracking vertically. You may have heard about the rear spring hanger U-bolts that if not fitted and shortened correctly can impact with this edge at the rear of the chassis and cause failures there. It was once common practice to drill access holes through this return edge to allow easy access to those outboard U-bolt nuts and in effect remove the integral strength of the chassis, Thank God for ratchet spanners!

Dave, Yes my 2020 M\Y plus 4 fits your description too! Me thinks it might have been fitted with generic of the shelf flexies!

Difficult to see the articulation from photo's but the brake cable firmly cable tied to the BRB didn't sit well with me. I've had a similar issue from new and accepted that with steering other than straight ahead there will be some rubbing. I fitted cable tidy spiral plastic onto hoses each side and these are still protecting the aeroquip hoses after 33,000 miles.

John if you mean if it shears, well they don't tend to go anywhere as when the top oiler bolt is tightened they don't spin in the fitting so stay in the same orientation.
And of course if a shear was initiated I think you would have probably stopped! If the car was repairable then hopefully you won't have damaged the Chassis.

I can see two differences between yours and mine. The exit through the inner wing is further forwards on yours and it looks like your flexi is near vertical where it enters the calliper, mine is horizontal and pointing rearward towards the BRB

[quote=RichardV6]Difficult to see

The cable ties hold the silicon tubing in pace over the flexi. There’s no mechanical fixing of the flexi to the BRB

Thanks for explanation and apologies for suggesting otherwise. Worth checking after some use the cable protection is long enough though. When I added mine the witness marks showed some degree of chaffing over a greater length given effects of both steering and suspension articulation. Check also the cable ties do not cause snagging.

Everything moves freely without rubbing over the full steering arc, just the interference of the lines on the BRBs which I don’t like.

I’m speaking with Cain later today to get his thoughts hopefully.

If I don’t find a solution I think I’ll take them off prior to the MOT

solution found thanks to Cain who suggested rotating the junction where the Flexi meets the fixed pipe on the inner wing.

looks like its done the trick

Cheers Cain

Sounds like a potential cure, just check (if flexi now goes over the BRB) that on full droop of susp travel that it's not stained

It still goes under BRB, full and free lock to lock with sufficient clearance to allow for suspension travel
