A taste of crocus in front of the car and a young girl on her unicycle practising with Dad in our Village Hall car park. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/03/02/34C8A448-8A62-4D4D-B1D7-94DFA28ED305.jpeg)

A lovely spring ride out to Dartmouth along Slapton Ley and dodging the Chelsea Tractors towards Start Point . Picnic beneath the Hang gliders riding above the clifftops and walk to the lighthouse to watch the ebbing spring tide overfalling the Skerries.

Quick shopping trip and run into Dartmouth and driving along the South Embankment I see a nice shaped blue car being off loaded from a flat bed, as I passed it I saw it was a well patinated Bugatti (yes one of those) so apart from the known 4 Morgan's in the locale something else to look out for apart from Leo's cocktail garage and TR2 and old Bristol in the village . Never seen it in 46 years down here.

Lovely day for a drive in the New Forest.... great shame about the overheating ......actually "controlled burning" by Forestry England, bizarre that they simultaneously display "no fires or BBQs" signs, and this is an area with protected species -- we've already seen lapwings this year. Not to mention the POLLUTION ! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2025/03/04/Wilverley-4-3-25.jpg)

Thanks Jon for the info, but the cynic in me remembers that the New Forest seemed to manage just fine "when I were a lad" in the 50's/60's.

If you're talking 1850/60's then that's probably accurate, they introduced a formal heathland burning program to the New Forest in the 1870's. However the process of has been going on for centuries.....

Well it may be that my recollections of the (19)50's/60's are fading or taking on a rose-tinted hue with the passage of time (and I'm not talking about the delights of Morgan ownership). There is a lot of info online, e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/content/articles/2007/01/23/gorse_burning_feature.shtml However it doesn't alter my distaste for the process or the environmental impact of the smoke, which to my eyes make a bit of a nonsense of e.g. legislating against old cars on the grounds of pollution. A question of scale perhaps. Anyhow a different stance is taken by our neighbours to the West, in Dorset, https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/n...ws-extent-of-damage-to-burned-heathland/ I worked for a decade in that geographical area, and the impact on reptiles and invertebrates was immense and tragic. I'm not an eco-warrior mind you, just trying to take a balanced view.

I don’t think California and Australia will be signing up for a while.
The irony of the crazy car controls in California was not lost here 😎
