My 80 year old dad been staying a few days, fit and well he is, and zero tolerance. His motto is zero f**ks given. I look at him, and he is becoming more eccentric every year. Anyway Morgan’s, he drove me in my Plus 6 today for a brew in Malvern factory, he drove like a complete loon, overtaking every chance he got, 80, 90 on A roads. Pulled into Morgan, called the new Supersport a tarted up Morgan, complained about sour bread toast at Cafe, and was chatting up the two ladies on Morgan reception. He then wheel spins out of factory, with me telling him off. His reply was, I’m trying to give Morgan drivers a bad name, whilst grinning into his white beard. He said my Plus 6 was crap , and reminds him of old crap he used to drive in the 60s. I give him this thread to read, and he said it’s very clique ish, and a lot of nonsense being talked which he has little time for. His synopses was, as a retired defence lawyer from Liverpool, is that people should do and say what they want, when they want, buy what you want , and if your going to publish your thoughts, then you are inviting criticism, comments you won’t like, and inviting an over emotional response from a gang of people you will probably never meet and probably wouldn’t even like if you met them face to face. In his jaded opinion, everyone is full off sh*t, and so is your car, as he jumped in his SL and drives to the pub at British camp, where he has made more friends in 3 days than I have living down here for 30 years!
What’s the point of me posting this drivel. I don’t know. Probably released the frustration of dad. But like my Morgan, my dad brings out the best and worst in me, gives me pleasure, good fun, and is a massive pain in the arse sometimes.🤷♂️
Treasure him 😎 Perhaps he could do the next unveiling I’d pay good money to see that

After this video, Youtube suggested the following video.
If you read the few 140 comments that have been posted so far, one thing is clear: the Supersports leaves no one cold. It is very emotionally stimulating. It has been overwhelmingly received with absolute enthusiasm by the majority, or somewhat negatively by a minority. If you have the majority on your side and still manage to polarise opinion, it is the best proof of a very successful story. Not a boring, lukewarm mass taste, but a very impressive and memorable statement. And that's not the members of a community like TM in the comments, but a selection of random comments from people who were at least curious enough to watch this video. I think more has been done here than just good homework, but the creation of a new contemporary dream.
I thought I’d wait a bit to let it sink in before commenting. It’s really growing on me. And I think the story is important as well. Can’t wait to see it in the metal. And that blue colour is epic. Extremely unlikely to ever be able to afford one but you never know.

Thanks for posting the interesting vid Heinz. I think the presenter gave the game away in terms of the target buyer when he spoke about the likely much required noise cancelling gizmology that might be required when phoning one`s mum....which for many baby boomers might require a system of belief as opposed to leading edge digital tec.... (-:
Were I today the circa 45 year old person I was when I bought into the idea that I had reached the time in life when, a 911 did not work as well as it had done for the circa two decades previously, and I was in search of something with a bit of British sports car history and heritage, that was built incorporating craftsmanship linked back to the times of coach and horses..... I suspect that there may be no sports car out there with that kind of linkage to be found in the UK or perhaps even world market...?
OK, OK, so a bit or relativity may best be applied...? When I was in my mid forties, I was looking to turn back time in terms of enjoying driving local ish and very interesting "A" and "B" road in an open top sports car that required a degree of driver input in excess of that of my 911... At the time a reasonably powerful Vintage sports car Bentley, Bugatti, etc, seemed to be the ideal, however any performance machine of that era was way outside my financial capability, whereas a Morgan might just be within my budgetary requirements...
If I turn the clock forward circa 30 years and overlay my mid 1990`s desire to expand my motoring experience as a 45 year old today.... I suspect the younger me might think that the Supersport could fit the bill, just as my +8 did all those years ago....
I have obviously not driven a Supersports, but have some up to date experience in driving a 991.1 C4S on my local and interesting roads, thus can well imagine that a much younger chap than I driving a similarly modern sports car today, might well be in search of expanding his automotive experiences just as I was back in time.... That perhaps being the case, it seems to me that the guys at MMC have indeed maintained momentum relative to keeping pace at precisely the correct amount of both design and time, to make available a similar experience available for a younger version of the kind of person I once was ....?
Whatever......
I wish the folk at MMC every success with the new Supersports..

The one comment I would like to just correct in Jono’s dad’s mind about this forum is that since joining TM in 2014, I have met in person, (some several times), many TMers over years at Morgan events (even have had several TM events), the NEC and various other occasions and shared some very nice times, great conversation and banter so I never post anything I wouldn’t say in person

Jono, you have described the story with your father very wonderfully, and that makes me smile. I could imagine it very vividly, like a scene in a good film with depth and humour at the same time.
Well now it seems like the dust has settled on the “debate” I thought I’d share my two-peneth. I saw the cars in the flesh on Tuesday, and they are very impressive. The fit & finish even on the pre production units was streets ahead of my Six. The door mechanisms seem much better, as does the side screen fixing and removal. Aesthetically I’m still a bit undecided. I love the back and the boot is very slick. Those forged wheels on the lilac car looked amazing too, and I think just 8kg per corner vs 11/12kg of the normal 19” wheels. I don’t love the shape of the hard top, although the engineering is impressive. Huge glass window, carbon fibre roof and just 7kg I think I heard. But it’s the front that I struggle with. It’s not the traditional vs modern thing, I’m just not sure it works for me. Somehow to my eye, it makes the car look taller and narrower, although I know it isn’t. But it is slowly growing on me, so I’m certainly prepared to eventually love it.
As others have said, all that have driven it claim it’s a significant step forward in handling. I’m looking forward to driving one in the coming months. I certainly commend the boldness of the change & I’m sure it will be a commercial success.
