Ordered it, a entry level 40kw one in Black, would of gone for Pop Green myself but need to keep everyone happy..

Hopefully gets ordered before work closes the scheme, realistically likely delivery n September was quoted 16 weeks

Just need to get a smart meeting and charging point fitted once order is in build..

It’s crazy the cost of the charging point… hopefully prices might come down.

TIA
Will

Considering how many EV's are available nowadays, a choice of 3 isn't very inspiring Octopus

Will, I was lucky and got a BMW subsidised one at our previous house

Have a search for local Sparkies that have approval to install charge points, they can be way more competitive than the so called 'specialists'

You can still get a government subsidy of £350 towards the cost of your charging point. The only catch being that you need to own an EV before you can get the grant.

Octopus charging point including installation starts at around £900, with the government subsidy it comes down to £550 which I don't think is too bad.

You may find someone local to do it a few pounds cheaper but personally I didn't think it was worth it.

But the grant isn't for everyone.
In England, the Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargepoint grant can help reduce the cost of installing an EV charger at home. This grant is available for both landlords of residential and commercial properties, as well as renters and flat owners. It provides up to 75% of the cost of buying and installing an EV chargepoint socket, capped at £350 per socket.

I didn't realise that.

So the grant isn't available for a house owner with on drive parking?
It seems odd it's just for flats...

Yes Octopus certainly seem to have active marketing campaigns from time to time. You may also find if you do only low mileage that the granny charger works for you at 2 kW/hr & you can still use an EV rate like Octopus Go. But check the supply cable in your house & any extensions can handle the load.
