Lovely day for a drive around the New Forest. Sdescreens off but still too hot ! I didn't have to travel far to find some matching scenery, at the end of our road ! ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/05/01/1st-May-2025-NM.jpg)

The start of our Highland trip. Day 1, up at 2.45am. Depart 3.30am to get a clear A1, A66, M6, A74M
The usual ten mile commuter slog after Hamilton services towards Stirling, then it melts away again. Callander deserted, but more camper vans than expected. Most going the other way. Even though it's early. Fort William the usual localised traffic congestion. Road in from the south is lousy with potholes. Two miles out going north and no traffic again.
Two fuel stops, one lunch stop. Arrived Fort Augustus at 12.42. It's only about 15c up here, with wet roads north of Stirling and a few light showers.
Harry's Garage did a recent Highland trip in his Ferrari, so check that out if you need convincing.

Have a good trip Dave. We stayed at the Inch Hotel a few years running. This year we're going to Montrose for a few days larking about over on the East side.

Nice run in the warm sunshine down to Aldeburgh with Mrs FT to shop for clothes for the Goodwood Revival. Nice walk to Thorpeness as well. There were two other dark green Trads in Aldeburgh today - anyone on here? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2025/05/01/IMG_0193.md.jpeg)

Thanks, yes huge crops of conkers, beech mast and acorns most likely -- so re the latter, watch out for piggies loose in the New Forest come autumn.

Do people (you guys) go to the St Mawes Classic Car Festival to show your vehicles and meet other car fans ? I understand it is on May 8th this year which seems an odd date (Thursday) . I just love St Mawes, the pubs and several of the hotels. A place of my youth and taking my parents on holidays there. Use to take my speed boat down, scuba dive and chill out in my fisherman’s smock. I found Woods Navy Rum in St Mawes and enjoyed taking the Morgan’s to the village. Yes, A real grackle !! Keep enjoying the current weather, MM PS Does anyone remember or buy anything from potters Bill & Maggie Fisher of Mousehole ??
