Thats just history of winter tyres - long time ago there were no high speed index winter tyres.
In my childhood winter tyres - even on dadˋs sport cars meant 160km/h max..
So this is still allowed - always with the manatory speed limit sticker on the dash...

Below are two screenshots taken from the EC type approval Certificate for the Morgan 3.7 V6 Roadster provided by the UK Vehicle Certification Agency. This is an updated version dated December 2017 adding changes for the 5 link rear suspension that was adopted in April 2018.

Each quote the top speed as 240 km/h. Tyre speed categories of H and V are mentioned as well dependant on rim choice. This leaves me wondering if your TÜV agency are using the correct documentation. Happy to send you full version pdf of this approval if you PM me with your email address.

A good quality premium tyre from a recognised make will serve you well. I had Avons on my Plus 8. New tyres just fitted after 8 years use. No problems. Gone for Goodyear Vector All Season tyres. I also use these on my everyday workhorse. Excellent in all weathers.

Yes I have to agree with you re the all season tyres, The goodyear are excellent as are the version from michelin. They wear extremely well and ride comfort and grip are perfect. I discovered them by accident really as on purchasing one of my BMW's, the first I'd had with run-flat tyres, it didn't take long to discover the tyres were awful for both ride and handling and when the temperature went below 7'c it was like driving on marbles so for the winter which was fast approaching I bought a set of rims from the bay and shod them with all season tyres. It transformed the car from something we had actually started to hate into a BMW we recognised. We were on the point of getting rid but then kept and enjoyed it for our normal 6 years. We ran it on all seasons all the time after that.

Just one quick observation re the goodyear and michelin options. The tread pattern is similar on both but the michelin has a more open tread pattern and therefore tends not to pick up stones in the same way which as we know then launch themselves into the alloy wings of our Morgan's causing outward facing dents or even star bursts, I could not discern any difference in their driving characteristics. The goodyear's finer tread pattern looks nicer on the Mog so you will have to make your own mind up which is for you!

a CoC with 240 km/h would help, but have a look

Richard‘s or mine CoC (type approval) must be wrong. We have the same car with Ford Motor 210 kW at 6000 RPM, but maximum speed is 240 otherwise 250 km/h.
I think, we agree at speeds above 200 km/h the drag resistance will restrict the top speed. It is easy to calculate, the air drag will increase with the power of 2, therefor the power with the factor of 3..
If mine CoC would be correct, we need 210kW for 250 km/h, so Richard‘s would need only 186 kW for 240 km/h.
I think, only MMC canhelp?

Last update: My local tyre-dealer sourced a set of Uniroyal RainExpert 205/60 W , so my problem is solved: No limits when driving to Italy. And hopefully shorter braking distance than allweathers …

I have had those Uniroyals on my Plus 8 for 6 months now and they are a very good tyre in all conditions.
