Hello,
I am thinking about a rollbar for my roadster. I had the Librands in my plus4 and it was ok. For the roadster I would like a black hoop and maybe a bit higher. I see on the techniques website they do a rollbar suitable for the easy-up with a removable diagonal. Does anyone have experience with this item? Anyone any pictures of it or know how it compares to the Librands system?

Obvious I know, but just make sure the height isn’t compromised by the need for it to fit under the hood.
And of course, unless you have a 4 point harness, then the roll bar becomes purely cosmetic.

I had the Librands roll bar fitted to a previous Morgan, 2004 4/4, so not as tall as a traditional roll bar however it did stiffen the chassis and made a noticeable difference to the handling so wasn’t just a cosmetic change, won’t say improvement as we all have our own views on what our cars should look like.
I also had a 4 point harness fitted which made a surprising difference to my ability, limited as it is, to drive quickly as I was held in place so firmly. Unless you have tried one you don’t realise how much you get thrown about on a bumpy road. Only drawback, other than the extra time to fasten up, was that it was impossible to reach the handbrake!
So I have to say in my experience a roll bar does make a difference.

Also,I would add, it is not possible to lean forwards to look sidewards at junctions. For a harness to work itmust be done up very tight. Worn loose it is dangerous and worse than useless. I have considered adding a retracting reel to harness shoulder straps. Has anyone done this? Any comments? Or, device was shown on here recently that brings handbrake operation back level with the gear stick.

Another issue with rollbars is that occupant's heads are at risk of hitting the bar while being tossed about during an accident, even while being held in a harness. Driving with a rollbar really requires a helmet.

Forgot about that, yes junctions were often a challenge. Plus, just remembered, you have to adjust them when the weather changes as a correctly adjusted belt over a jacket will be too loose if it warms up and you want to ditch the jacket. Knew there was a reason I haven’t repeated this.

I was looking at 4point harnesses. I came across a 3 point harness from sparco that acts as a 4 point. The shoulder straps are y-shaped and join together behind your back. That would maybe combine nicely with an inertia reel attached to the cross member of the rollbar subframe?

Simmons do a handbrake extender which brings it nearer the gearstick I understand.. Does not solve the stretch to view though
