I went to the Lakes over the weekend to see a 3.7. It was the most beautiful Morgan I've ever seen, but there is less (drivers) leg room than in my '98 +4! I'm still really disappointed about it as it's a deal breaker.

With Caterhams you can fit lowered floors that help give a bit of extra leg room, I don't suppose there are any tricks to get an extra 2 inches are there?

I find footwell width is an issue given the bulky MT82 gearbox. MMC partially addressed this on later 3.7 Roadsters by having a cutout on the right side of bulkhead which formed a carpeted pocket benefitting drivers right foot in operating throttle pedal. Some time in 2018 the aluminium gearbox cover was slimmed down as well benefitting both footwells.

My current 3.7 is deffo narrower than the 3ltr, as RichardV6 says you may be able to modify the right hand side of the footwell bulkhead if it's not got the OE cutout

Some Mog owners wear proper narrow driving shoes, but I find them hard soled and a bit tough on the old neuroma

I'm lucky on two counts. My S1 Roadster has enough space in Morgan terms, but my feet are between size 5 and 6. I use Piloti Prototipo shoes which are narrow and very suitable. Some will remember that I bought a "few" pairs off E Bay when the company went insolvent some years ago. Small sizes were available and at stupid money. The red pair were £16!

The issue isn't the narrow pedals.... the actual leg room... i.e. I'd like the seat to go back another 1-2 inches!

As the seat runners are very basic bolt tho the floor & part of the chassis they should be possible to move rearward ? or were you hitting the back bulkhead with the seat already ?

Yes as cooperman says, you can move the seat runners back until the back of the rear seat is touching the bulkhead. First thing, you will find that you can have the seat back, if rake adjustable, (in a more upright position) when your leg reach is better, so bear that in mind when re positioning.

Second thing, when you have found your new position you will have to mark and drill the new position for the fixings through the seat mounting runner to be able to use the chassis cross member elements to secure it safely.

Third thing. Dependent on the age of your car it will dictate whether there are wooden seat spacers fitted underneath the seat frame fixing bar. Mine is 2010 and had none fitted as standard. I found that the seat squab angle was too high at the front edge and when pressing brake or clutch I was straining my thigh and hurting my lower back as I was fighting the front of the seat so I made tapered spacers which abutted the front chassis cross member at about 1/4" thick tapering up to just under 3/4" at the rear end of the seat mount. This has made a massive difference to the comfort of my seating position and I am now enjoying the control of the foot pedals I had hoped for without the tiring fight that I was getting from the MMC designed ergonomics!

Yes the seat was touching the rear bulkhead.
