No, doesn't seem at all likely.

No, the option was 1, 2 or 3 as per the customers want as an optional extra. Generally though on the narrow bodied cars two is the maximum you see.

I have two per side on my plus 4 which has the roadster body, my car also has paint protection film fitted too. In my honest opinion I think the tread rubbers are a pain in the back end as they are one hell of a corrosion trap in that the alloy strips and the fixings hold water and even though the screws are also alloy this doesn't prevent corrosion. How you would also use them to gain access too and/or exit the car is beyond me! and for what other reason would you want to stand on a flimsy wing? They have no ability to protect the wing from scratching caused by your shoes as you exit the car as this occurs to the outer rolled edge. Far better to just have PPF fitted to the wing tread areas as this will afford all the protection that is needed for normal use. The best quality meterial, say M3 is self repairing by pouring near boiling water over it to remove scuffs and markings and if it gets really tatty it can easily be replaced.

So, and unless any one else can tell us what use tread rubbers have on a Morgan classic then I'd have to say none other than cosmetic, or because one likes the look of them. For me now, I actually think they detract from the elegant sweeping lines if the front wings.

Funny how we are all different... I love 3 rubbers!!!

But I certainly understand your view point of them being award to clean and corrosion.

There is a +8 for sale with 3 rubbers, and the wing looks wider, although it might just be the way the picture was taken.

IMO tread rubbers imply to the uninformed that they can be trodden on, so I don't have any. I agree with Sewin in that it's far better to have just PPF fitted. Mine is still in good condition after 9 years of use.

The wing width is governed by the wheels during build, this is why they are fitted during the early stages before the rolling chassis & tub goes into the tin shop, a trad Plus 8 with alloys will be slightly narrower than one with wires

Jon, for the sake ok accuracy that is not always the case - my gentle 3 tread giant has the optional (1999) Morgan Lightweight Centre Lock alloys which were a factory option at £1674.38 at the time.

Once the rubber finisher starts to look uneven, get started on dealing with it, because the small coach bolts rust and lift the rubbers.
