If you look at page 6 or 7 (I think; at work, can't check now) in the new brochure, there is a close up picture of the gas cap. The pages with the photos that looked as if they are taped in place. LOL, suits me fine for not actually looking at pictures!  Thanks for the pointer. It does look like a "raw" aluminium cap or matte nickel finished.

pop up outer cap then use key to undo the "real cap" and refuel guy at the tankstation said I had done a very good job making that old thing looking like new

Oh, and I often get complimented on what a brilliant restoration I've done on my 4/4. Sometimes I just accept the plaudits with a modest smile, at other times I 'fess up that it's new.
