10 years is a good run. Glad the tank is well.

Gave her a pat from you too.

There was an American down there paying his respects and his uncle owns a Morgan and he was most interested in the Plus 8.

Hi Chris,

This looks great, can you share a link to the air scoop you purchased on the Merlin website?

Also, could you confirm the origins of the nice looking pipe you used, is it some sort of flue pipe/liner?

Thanks, Dave.

The black scoop looks very similar to the one I used, Revotech was the brand, bought via Demon Tweeks

Dave

I struggle with putting links on here. The scoop is Merlin stock code ID255-800S. Their description is 255mm x 80mm Rectangle Offset Air Duct. I had to modify it to fit.

The hose is from Amazon. A 2.5m length of what is described as “aluminium flexible pipe alloy air ducting tube heat resistant hose”. Mine is 70mm inside diameter but currently cannot find this. 75mm inside diameter is currently available at £8.60 from the INPAV Store whatever that is and would be better than 70mm I believe.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Here's the link: https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/255mm-x-80mm-rectangle-offset-air-duct-id255-80os

(BTW the stock code is ID255-80OS, note the O, not a zero)

I have the ITG cold air intake system, same as sold through Williams. Now, the theory is good but the reality ... well not quite so good!
The air filter box is mounted directly above the exhaust manifold and it gets too hot to touch, so rather than a cool air intake it would in fact make a great cold weather pre-heat system like the old cars from the 70's, 80's and into the early 90's used to pre heat the air and prevent carb icing....!

My basic theory on cold air intakes is due to the velocity of the cold (or cool) air passing through the system, it does not have time to be unduly influenced by any warm or hot components through which it passes. This is why I have not lagged the inlet pipe or air filter box.

Granted, the filter element will act as a flow restrictor but to what extent I know not.
