Slightly off track in terms of the thread but perhaps more related to the topic of Perfection Vs Patinated, I am a tad betwixt and between, though in my yoof I spent a lot of time polishing up my old machines, even to the extent of polishing their engines internals... With the passage of time I grew to appreciate machines which wore a measure of their history. Perhaps a tad like ladies, who have had surgery to produce someone`s idea of perfect curves and bright white teeth, and whatever else as opposed to a natural beauty, wearing the ageing process well.... Hmm..?

I think I have related this story before of a Type 51 Le Mans Classic entrant which required a new rear tyre to be fitted, it seems whoever fitted the tyre may have thought that, to be fully appreciated, that wonderfully engineered and aged alloy deserved to be polished to perfection....?

WOW, so much for no depreciation on a Morgan.....
