Yeah it all gets confusing given the number of variables John... So the Ohme has a transformer and rectifier in circuit as well as sophisticated control system built in... Thanks for the heads up.

No just the controls. The 7 kW charger is built in the car.

You need to notify your DNO (grid operator) prior to installing an EV charger.  If your on a single phase supply then you can only install a 7 kWp charger. If you are on single phase you can have a 22 kWp charger but it will only ever charge at 7 kWp... For a 22 kWp EV charger you will need a 3 phase supply.

So nearly 2 weeks and 280 miles and I’m loving it.. good fun to drive, comfortable and was very welcome for the station run this morning at 0 degrees, especially as you a pre heat the cabin and de ice it from your phone..
Getting about 130 mile range 3.5 m per kw as it’s the Urban range.

I have been reading this thread with a slightly different angle of enjoyment/nterest so please excuse me if this is off course.
I grew in Hothatchland. I had a R5GT Turbo not long after they first came out and it was fantastic. All for different reasons than the new electric one is but it did have an iconic identity.
You would, from your pensions comment, appear much younger and so the brightest period of the R5 identity was perhaps before your time?
What is it about the R5e that makes it different from many of the other E-thingies? Is it a love of the R5 character that makes it stand out or something else?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Yes am 41, so the Renault 5 was around when I was young but the Clio had overtaken it.
I was attracted to it by the retro style a cleaver design touches which you don’t get usually entry level cars bar the Fait 500.
It’s good fun to drive and efficient on electric.
It costs £320 a month all in with insurance on Salary Sacrifice and no deposit and 10k miles
It works well as a family runaround for local journeys and is very cheap on electric 150 miles for £2 rather than £35 in the Morgan as comparison so will likely save us £2k a year in fuel costs and hopefully reduce the annual millage of my wife’s car from 20k to nearer 10k
So it ticks a lot of boxes

I plugged in a friends EV who was staying overnight via an extension lead via three pin plug into my garage wall socket. Blew the main house fuse after 40 mins. Most inconvenient. And the extension lead cable insulation was melting. I know I should have unwound the extension cable completely.
I will stick with my +8

It would have been drawing about 10 amps continuous so a heavy duty extension lead (unwound  ) is essential. I have just fitted an extension lead for my daughter to charge her Tesla when she needs a top up. Neither the lead or the plugs/sockets get warm
