Yes, that works, but with a bigger dog behind the seats only open top. The smaller black dog is in the passenger footroom:

I once met a guy who had a small dog that rode on a specially adapted tank bag on his motorcycle. Dog wore a small flying helmet (with hole for the ears) and googles. The owner explained that without the googles dogs are very subject to eye damage from the wind as they don't blink in the same way that we would.

He would sit in his tank bag for an hour or so at a time at highway speeds and apparently loved it.
