Way back when I lived in Warsaw I bought a Russian Mig fighters clock from the "Russian Market" which was held in the old football stadium on Saturday mornings. I had the choice of buying a Kalashnikov Rifle, hand grenades or the clock, I went safe with the clock. The market truly was the wild west you could buy anything and I mean anything you could also loose your life and certainly get robbed, but boy was it exciting.

Or to be fair, the ‘Spoons pretty much anywhere

Either my Chopard Mille Miglia GMT or an Apple Watch! The Smith clock in my 4/4 is sublime, precise and good readable, the clock in my PlusFour is difficult to read, especially in the dark. So effectively we never use that. Not everything is an improvement with Morgans....!!! cuckoo

As the sole reason for owning Morgan's for me is for pleasure and totally losing yourself - a watch is an abomination on all levels and certainly not yet another willy waggling contest that surfaces on here with monotonous regularity.

Other views maybe available..

My Chopard is my daily watch which was a present from my wife in 2010. When sporting I use something less vulnerable, so that is the AppleWatch already for many years. And often I use the AppleWatch when I don't want to be so careful. Why a watch then? Well as a medical doctor I did practice my outpatient wards for decades, and that means you have to keep up with the time. Endocrinologists see a lot of outpatients by the type of patients. So it has become a second nature to look at my watch regularly. Even now, semi-retired, with only a few patients from time to time. So I don't collect watches, I have an older IWC which I find very pretty, but as it eats Croco-straps and is relatively small, I don't use it. That's a bit of a pity. it is not a competition for me or status-related, I like the mechanic movements though, as I like Morgans!

I had to smile, so often people sees things very differently from the true spirit of the collecting hobby involved in any ownership ritual,, be it watches, model railways etc. It's almost akin, in some peoples minds, as to why the need to own large gas guzzling V8's in ones Morgan. in a increasingly more intense speed controlled road environment. Where clearly a humble 4 pot engine would offer more than adequate means of propulsion, especially against a backdrop of climate change, I of course wouldn't dare to suggest it could also be considered a bit of willy waggling ....as they say each to their own and let those without sin, cast the first stone. cheers

Coincidentally just had an ,interesting morning with my local Rolex dealer , looks like my long awaited blue dial Skydweller may arrive before too long.........and I rarely wear a watch these days, but .I'll probably wear that in the Morgan. Life's too short to worry too much about other people's interests and hobbies.......
