Good morning,
I recently purchased a 2020 Morgan P4 110 with about 3,000 km on the clock. Unfortunately, I discovered that this model/year has a rather noisy sports exhaust (fitted in factory) , especially on longer journeys. Has anyone had the same problem, and is there a solution? Is it possible to install DB KILLERS like on motorcycles, to avoid modifying the original exhaust? Thanks

Consider putting some sound/ acoustic material/barrier under the carpet of the rear parcel shelf/ledge as basically all you have is some thin hardboard between you and the exhaust noise. I did it on my PLus 4 sport and it quietened the drone down significantly. That way you may not have to mess around with the exhaust itself. The rest of the floor carpeting can easily be lifted and put thin sound deadening under the carpet will help as well

Yes, the top hard board ledge and side board going down to the floor ie the rear bulkhead. behind the seats. If you search the internet for sound proofing a Morgan you will see posts and their suggestions eg Dynamat Noise Suppression. If you also insulate the floorboards and transmission tunnels as well, it will make it a much quieter car and stop some of the engine heat sink into the cabin in the summer.

I would start by establishing exactly exactly what silencer you currenly have?
Morgan offered two different options, the part number will we laser engraved on the silencer.
You're looking for a number prefaced with 'MEX', I believe it's like this:
1. MEX 1107 is the noisier sports straight through silencer
2. MEX 1105 is the standard quiet version
If you fou find you have the noisier sports straight through silencer MEX 1107, fit a quieter MEX 1105.
And as it happens there's one for sale on eBay right now for a very good price:

You know what Dave, My plus 4 has the MEX 1107 fitted and I wouldn't say it was in the least noisey in fact it's quite a bit quieter than I would like really. I get a few pops on the over-run but nothing that would frighten the wild life!
Folks that complain about the 1107 as opposed to the 1105 say that you get a drumming noise at higher speeds on the 1107 which you can lose with the 1105....... Hey you don't think I'm going deaf in my old age do you Dave? Well.it's probably down to the sports exhaust and that's why I can't hear it!!!

There is a little plate welded on to the end of the silencer with the number on it, mine was at the front top edge of the box. No re-mapping changes needed and I think the MEX1107 was the standard exhaust on the plus 4 from 2004 and the 1105 standard on the 4/4.. put your hand under the car and feel along the top seam edge of the box and you should be able to feel where the plate is, it's about 25mm long but sits proud of the silencer.
