To those who have already taken delivery of a 3 Wheeler...

Could you imagine using it for your "daily driver" when the weather permits? Could it replace your mainstay vehicle? Is it so compelling to drive that you would forego other vehicles in your garage, and favor the 3 Wheeler exclusively, or nearly so? Could you do without the 'luxuries' of full-featured cars? Or, could the 3 Wheeler never be anything but an occasional-use vehicle to you, even in warm and dry weather? Would you grow tired of it as a main course, and opt for a daily driver with more creature comforts?

Once you've lived with the 3 Wheeler for awhile, and the novelty has turned to familiarity, please let me/us know about its lasting appeal.

Just the weather, otherwise YES
Comfort, step in/out, practical,...all is fine
Fuel consumption is still unknown because no-ones engine is beyond first service
Service-cost, but most you could do yourselves imho, is also not known

For me also: no all-risk insurance is a minus for using it as a daily

I'll be interested in this thread - this is the ONE thing coming between me and placing an order. In order to get one, I'd have to be willing to use it every day...and me thinks it would just be too difficult to accommodate that need.

Steven, do let me know when you take delivery of yours! I've got too many relatives in La Jolla to not make an excuse to come out there sometime...we'll have to discuss some sort of key-exchange arrangement

Utah9110, I cancelled my 3W order several months ago, with concerns about quality, reliability, and practicality. Still hoping to be convinced, however.

You may want to PM me to see if we have friends in common... I lived in La Jolla for 30+ years until recently.

Whilst even the most basic car, and the M3W would qualify, can be used on a daily basis if you are willing to put up with the different ethos of this type of car, I think this is missing the point of it, which, as I see it anyway, is as a 'Special' car to take out when you feel the need. It is simple, small basic and fast. If you use it every day, it does start to get familiar and loses that specialness it once had.

There are people who use cars like the Caterham Seven on a daily basis, and they love it, so with a few small mods, like extra cockpit storage, maybe some sound, even if only with a comms. system and headphones etc, I wouldn't see why the M3W shouldn't be a perfectly good daily driver.

Steve, I'm sorry to hear that you have become disillusioned with it, I hope that you don't feel you made the wrong decision now it's a little better developed, or are you waiting for the 130bhp 450kg Super Sport version?

I guess it depends on what your daily drive involves. I use my 4/4 sport every day whenever the weather is fine & the roads are salt free, & can see no reason why I couldn't do the same in a M3W. Where I wouldn't want to exchange the 4/4 for a 3W is for the longer trips - the lack of windscreen & any weather protection, cramped accommodation & minimal luggage capacity make the 3W far better suited to short blasts IMHO. Mind you, I still haven't driven the 3 wheeler as the demonstrator had been broken by some journalists the day before the French public launch, which should be remedied next month as the dealer said I can have a go in it when I take the Sport in for it's 8000km service (just short of the car's first birthday).

I should add that if I had the cash to buy Stephen's Aeromax for the long journeys then I'd happily swap the 4/4 for a M3W for my daily pootling.

Have been hearing rumors of cars going back to the works with issues of hard starting, not charging, very loud bevel boxes , and corrosion.
Can some of the new owners here comment on any issues they have experience?

I'd be surprised if anyone has managed to clock up enough mileage yet. It is very easy to flood the engine, which I've done once, just need to leave it for a few minutes and then its back to business.

The manual says the bevel box will be noisy for the first 1000 miles then bed down. Mine does seem to be getting quieter, either that or my passengers are screaming louder.
