Steven I don't think anyone has an issue with your topic, your comments or anything else that people have generally posted, including Jays comment, or AQM's opinion on what matters and what doesnt matter to him. These are all based on queries or instances they have heard or know about. Nothing wrong with writing stating asking or discussing. That's what we're here for.

I will deal with what I do have an issue with in a separate (next?) post.

As for Mike Duncan's car, that was posted here AFTER you posted. It may have been posted elsewhere beforehand but I can't recall.

That Is rumour mongering of the finest. As Simon very clearly stated, it's starting your 'contribution' with a negative, and I feel it's intentional, though of course that's my opinion only.

If you had said "I understand Mike Duncan's car has had ......" and/or "I read on XYZ that so and so's car has a noisy bevel box, is this typical? Can any of the owners shed any light?" or words to that effect it old ave been perceived very differently. But you state no facts, just conjecture, and IMHO exaggerated conjecture, dramatic conjecture. Why can't you just stick to facts or verifiable sources? That's all.

As for "the name calling" why are you you upset? I was simply re-stating a rumour??

Yes....lets get back to Steve's original question! Which I can't answer because I've yet to drive the car.......which was Mike Duncans! Well, I know what my answer would be....there are times when I desire the comfort of a roof and heater so it wouldn't be a daily driver for me. BUT.......if I looked out of the window and saw weather like todays.... cold but without a cloud in the sky...I'd jump in it like a flash!

On daily drivers, there were two interesting cats at Geneva, both of which I use as a daily driver, both electric.

An Opel concept car, which is quite futuristic and a bit cockpit-esque. But more importantly, the new Renault Wiz which I think is great and will be on sale in the UK in under a year.

They both had roofs, but the Wiz was open on the sides to the elements. Definitely a bit more practical, but more fun? Not on your Nelly

I like the idea of an electric car, but it wouldn't be practical for me.

To return to the 3W as a daily driver. As I said earlier, it will be a daily driver for me. Although I will keep our Lupo 3L, because we have a daughter (born 12th of January), so she will be have to driven around at least some, and I'm not sure I want to drive around a small child in it. It's simply not safe enough for that.

But for my personal transportation - going to the studio, going out to interview people, going to a meeting, going for a row in my coastal rowing boat, and, not least, for travel, it will be the transportation of choice.

Anyway, I will have heated seats and I'm contemplating a home made inflation device in the back rest (behind the leather) at the lower of the back.

I would/will make it from one of those manual pumps you use to check blood pressure with. It seems to me to be in the spirit of the thing.

Might get some bad comments on this regard, but I am hoping I can attach the child seat to the 3 wheeler and take my 2 year old for a drive. Im always of the thought that if it is not safe enough for my children, then it is not safe enough for me. Wouldn't want them orfans!

I see your point, but I think that if I were to live by that golden rule, I wouldn't even bicycle alone. Or row in open water, climb, skate (okay, I'm too old for that now), paraglide, or what else you can think of.

In all seriousness, though, I can definately imagine taking her for a go in it, I just don't want it to be the normal transportion for her. I'm willing to risk a small trip once in a while, but not every time I need to transport her somewhere.

AQM. On the inflatable seat back they used to be common on I think old Fords but also on Lotus Elises so maybe you can get one on line.

Iike anything there is black, there is white and there is a lot of grey in between. Depends on different peoples take on things.

There is also I guess managing the risks. I would take my kids out for a little trip on a quiet day but wouldnt do so on a commute on a busy motorway or trunk roads so agree with your second paragraph.
